7 Hilariously Dated Home Pages From the 2000s

By  |

The power a screengrab from a 10-year-old website can have is kinda freaky, but when I see an old Yahoo home page, oh man am I transported back to my awkward middle school days. Take a walk with me down memory lane and see if these sites bring up anything.

1. AOL

This site is an embarrassing reminder that you used to chat with SmarterChild when you were home sick.

2. Neopets

Every morning, like clockwork, you went to the Giant Omelette and knew exactly when the Snowager was asleep.

3. Yahoo

Why did you continue to use Yahoo as your primary search engine? Is it because the “Yahoo!” yodel ads starting in 1996 were so darn catchy? Oh yes.

4. Xanga

You posted about how you accidentally stole a pack of batteries from Rite Aid because you walked out without paying. Oh, the secrets you spilled on Xanga…

5. Del.icio.us

Aww, remember the innocent days of social bookmarking? I don’t because I never used this but I remember it was a thing and I didn’t understand what the dots were for!

6. Live Journal

Also a thing I didn’t use but still cringe-y because who chronicles their life online (except in the form of tweets or snaps or grams)?

7. Ebaums World

Flashback to spending your 15 minute break between 1st and 2nd period in the library on this site. You were cool. Very cool.

What sites do you cringe-ily remember? Tweet-tweet at me @AndiHester!
