We’ve Been Pronouncing Ariana Grande and Chrissy Teigen’s Names Wrong THIS WHOLE TIME
There’s nothing more annoying than having to repeatedly correct strangers who mispronounce your name, even if you have one of those trickier or unfortunate names. But if you think YOU have it bad, imagine having so many people mispronounce your name that you give up trying and just stop correcting people altogether. That’s apparently been the plight of model Chrissy Teigen and singer Ariana Grande for their entire careers, as both ladies recently revealed how their last names — which, to be fair, seem pretty straightforward — are supposed to be pronounced.
During an interview in August, Ariana said of her name, “My grandparents said ‘Grandee’. My brother [Frankie Grande] kind of changed it to ‘Grawn-day’ because ‘Grandee’ was kind of like the Americanized version of it. I grew up saying ‘Grandee’.”
Well color us SHOOK.
The betrayal, of course, gets worse. Over the weekend, Chrissy also revealed how “Teigen” is really supposed to be pronounced:

Wow. Talk about a CONSPIRACY! Not only have Chrissy and Ariana been living respective lies this entire time, they’ve forced US to live their lies as a result. Do we deserve to live in a world where we can’t trust our celebrities to teach us how to pronounce their last names? And more importantly, if Chrissy and Ari have kept up this charade for this long, are there other celebs hiding the truth behind their names?
Are you surprised by Chrissy and Ariana’s name revelations? And are there any other celebs you think have names being pronounced wrong? Let us know @Smosh!
