Leonardo DiCaprio Explains His Awkward Golden Globe Reaction to Lady Gaga
This year’s Golden Globes was filled with a few nuggets of greatness, most of which came from Ricky Gervais making fun of the Hollywood elite like Mel Gibson and Ben Affleck. While Gervais’ jokes helped make the awards show slightly more interesting to watch than paint drying, the internet was scouting for a moment they could turn into a meme. And by George, they found one — watch Lady Gaga brush by Leonardo DiCaprio as she goes up to collect her award for Best Supporting Actress in a TV show:
Wouldn’t it be great if Leo finally got his Oscar, but it was for that one reaction to Gaga instead of The Revenant? #GoldenGlobes

I love the way Leo flinched when Gaga walked by like he didn’t want any TV to get on his tux.

After the Golden Globes had wrapped up, a reporter from Entertainment Tonight asked DiCaprio about the moment. He said, “Oh lord — that’s trending, huh?” before explaining, “I just didn’t know what was passing me — that’s all!” (Sure, Leo. Suuuuuuure you weren’t laughing with Alejandro González Iñárritu about the fact that you had to FIGHT A MOTHERF*CKING LADY BEAR AND WALK THROUGH NECK-DEEP ICE RIVERS TO WIN A GOLDEN GLOBE, and all Gaga had to do was bleach her eyebrows and cry a bit. It’s okay to laugh at that, Leo, because otherwise you’d probably have to cry.)
Regardless of what was really going on inside Leo’s head, we’re just glad he gave us a face we can now to express any awkward situation we find ourselves in. So thank you, Leo. THANK YOU.
