Most Badass Movie Quotes Ever

By  |

I’ve never been one to scoff at quoting movies, sometimes the lines that fictional characters say in exaggerated circumstances best sum up and accentuate daily moments of regular badassery. Though real life circumstances will most likely never live up to the movies we quote from, it still doesn’t hurt to have an artillery ready and waiting for that one moment in which you can drop a truly badass bomb of movie gold.

Thank God for movies, and thank God for these 10 quotes in particular, I feel they encompass the full range of awesomeness that comes with the fictional heroes that originally spoke them. Enjoy!

10. “You stole my boyfriend. Taste my steel!”

Knives Chau (Ellen Wong), Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

This line comes across particularly strong considering Knives’ general wimpish character within Scott Pilgrim, this movie moment not only made me reconsider having Knives be on my team when in a fight, but I instantly added shouting, ‘Taste my Steel!’ as a battle cry on my bucket list.

9. “Over the line!” or “You’re entering a world of pain.”

Walter Sobchack (John Goodman), The Big Lebowski

Either of these quotes work in stressful situations in which it is completely imperative that you take control. ‘Over the Line!’ is one of those lines you can apply to any area of life where someone is being unjust, ‘You’re entering a world of pain’ is for when that person in question doesn’t listen the first time.

8. “I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.”

French Soldier (John Cleese), Monty Python and the Holy Grail

This line, besides being absolutely hilarious is a true testament to the silly geniuses within Monty Python and their knack for making completely G-rated, yet filthy put-downs.

7. "There's a lotta things about me you don't know anything about, Dottie. Things you wouldn't understand. Things you couldn't understand."

Pee Wee Herman (Paul Reubens), Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure

This line, along with “I’m a loner Dottie, a rebel” is made even more badass by the tweed suit and white loafers Pee-Wee was clothed in while he said it. There’s something about ultimate geekiness complementing unabashed badassery that makes something wrong oh-so-right.

6. "I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way."

Jessica Rabbit (Kathleen Turner), Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

Few human beings can embody the ultimate sex appeal and don’t-give-a-crap attitude that a cartoon like Jessica Rabbit embodies. I’ve spent the bulk of my adulthood trying to emulate even an ounce of her maturity, and she ain’t even a real human being.

5. “I don't know who you are. But if you don’t let my daughter go I will find you. I will kill you.”

Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson), Taken

First, let’s all agree that Liam Neeson is basically now Harrison Ford circa 10 years ago. Second, let’s also agree that he is the most bad ass, unexpected action stars to emerge in the last 10 years. He can easily whip a criminal around and go to a PTA meeting for his kid in the same day. He is my hero.

4. “Now I have a machine gun. Ho ho ho.”

Officer John McClane (Bruce Willis), Die Hard

The face that Die Hard thrives as the world’s most unconventional holiday movie makes the ultimate brutality and lightning-quick action sequences that much better. Also, Bruce Willis could read a grocery list and make it sound bad-ass, so when he says lines like this it’s a double-whammy of badassery, which seems like it would be too much to handle, but ends up being just right.

3. “I'm a man who discovered the wheel and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn. That's what kind of man I am. You're just a woman with a small brain. With a brain a third the size of us. It's science.”

Ron Burgandy (Will Ferrell), Anchorman

This is a testament to the fact that adding the button, “It’s science” to any statement makes it universally true.

2. “Take this quarter, go downtown, and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face! Good day to you, madam.”

Buck Russell (John Candy), Uncle Buck

This line was said in regard to a grotesquely huge mole, but could probably work more if you say it to someone with no apparent face marks or imperfections. Nonsensical aggression always rules out.

1. “I’m sorry, did I ruin your concentration?”

Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson), Pulp Ficton

This man invented badassery.
