Worst Cartoons Based On Video Games

By  |

Video games give us a joy that can be matched by no other form of entertainment. Unfortunately, when you make anything that is marketed to kids, one of the first ideas to expand the brand is to make a cartoon. Cartoons based on video games are some of the worst children's entertainment that has ever been created. Here are the worst ones:

The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3

Mario Peach Milli Vanilli

It's a pretty low place to be the worst Mario TV series. There are some stinkers. At one point, they edited all the old shows together to make a new show. This was the only series to be totally left out. It's so bad that they even saved Milli Vanilli in one episode.

Double Dragon

This show is on here for no other reason than it helped to tank one of the best video game franchises. After the show came out, a game based on the TV show based on the game was released called Double Dragon V: The Shadow Falls. This game deviated from the traditional side scrolling beat-em up format to make sure all of the characters from the show got plenty of screen time in a terrible fighting game. Sometimes I still have nightmares about this TV show where I wake up screaming, “Why do you have to ruin everything I love?”

Captain N: The Game Master

Captain N Characters

Captain N was more of a Nintendo commercial than any sort of legitimate television show. He was armed with a Nintendo controller and a zapper, and one of his best friends was a talking Gameboy. This would be like if Xbox released a show today where characters from Halo, GTA, and God of War all had to fight together. Actually, that might be pretty cool. GIVE US WHAT WE WANT MICROSOFT! Sonic Underground

Sonic Urkel

This series stars Sonic the Hedgehog and his two siblings playing in a rock band and defeating their enemies with music. Terrible music. Sonic Underground was canceled because most viewers couldn't make it through an episode without cutting their own ears off. And if that isn't bad enough, Steve Urkel voices all three hedgehog!

MegaMan NT Warrior

 Megaman Derp

NT Warrior tried to cash in on the Pokemon knock-off craze of the early 2000's. Their twist was that all of the MegaMan characters lived inside computers and real people could collect them and fight with them. It's kind of sad that the glorious MegaMan series had to resort to such tricks to get kids interested.

Mutant League

Mutant League Game Over

Mutant League was based on Mutant League Football and Mutant League Hockey. There series had no recognizable characters and not much of a fan base. It was a show that no one watched about a game that no one liked. Maybe if they had added back in a halftime in every episode where you can blow up the marching band it would have been a little more popular.

pac-man santa

The most disturbing thing about Pacman is the Christmas episode where Santa Claus crash lands in Pac-Land. This implies that Pac-Land is an actual place on Earth that is filled with ghosts. Is that where we go when we die? Hey Pac-Man! Stop eating my grandma!

Saturday Supercade

Saturday Supercade was all of all of the old video games tossed in a blender until pulverized to a disgusting brown liquid. They would then point a camera at the liquid send out the footage to televisions nationwide. This show had segments from Donkey Kong, Pitfall!, and Q*Bert. They even had episodes about Frogger. They knew no shame.
