Why do people like todays music over the older music?

Music has reached a point where random collections of robot sounds can be called "catchy" and auto-tuners "enhance the voice." Do you feel that this modern music is more robust than previous generations or not, and why?

I personally love the music of yesteryear where the voice can be characterized as an instrument in itself such as Frank Senatra's or Bing Crosby's (google it), or even classic rock from the Styx, Queen, and other great bands. But that's just me...

I personally cannot stand most of today's modern music. I would much rather listen to geniuses like Shostakovich or Beethoven than Lady Gaga or whatever else is out there. Not that I don't listen to any modern music --I love Muse! But I think that music needs to be creative and an expression of yourself and original rather than just noise and the same old same old lyrics and beats over and over. One thing that annoys me more than anything is autotune. It's like if you can't sing, why are y

Listen to korn or skrillex, its allot better than justin bieber the hermaphrodite.

I can't stand how all of today's music sounds the same. I'd choose Beethoven over Nicki Minaj any day

There are many artists making good music today. I think you're talking about the mainstream shit that plays on the radio. On my side, I listen to underground music cause I can't stand mainstream shit.

From Urban Dictionary: Mainstream is what's the new trend. when one "style" gets old, a new one is reborn, a mainstream person is someone who jumps from trend to trend so that they fit in with the rest of the crowd. Mainstream is being what society thinks you should be, and look like.

So, when I talk about mainstream music, it's what radios want us to listen.

Then 'mainstream' modern music sucks!! I'll stick to my world class rock KGB
