I recently started listening to this band, and I love them.
Porcupine Tree is categorized as a progressive rock band, and have been around since 1987.

The band members are:
- Steven Wilson (vocals, guitars)
- Richard Barbieri (keyboards)
- Colin Edwin (bass)
- Gavin Harrison (drums)
- John Wesley (guitar on live performances)

Myspace
Wikipedia

Some songs:
Trains (live)
Blackest Eyes
Fear Of A Blank Planet
Lazarus

Radioactive Toy
Russia On Ice

Steven Wilson is also involved in other musical projects, such as No Man, Blackfield and Bass Communion. He's also produced some records from Opeth, f.e. Damnation, Blackwater Park and Deliverance.

Any thought or opinions about this band? smile.gif

This is the first time I've listened to them properly and I really like it. From the selection of videos in the first post I think 'Fear of a Blank Planet' is brilliant. I've got to find some more stuff now.

92% of teenagers would put a quote in their signature if it made fun of Abercrombie & Fitch. Put this in your sig if you are one of the 8% that think all chain quotes fucking suck.

Interesting. A thread about a band I had never heard of, and the band is actually good.

Thanks for this, op.

So, I'm listening to 'In Absentia' right now and it's damn good. I wish I'd started listening to this band sooner.

For the longer songs, I strongly recommend Russia On Ice and Deadwing.

And one of my personal favorites, the 34-minunte long The Sky Moves Sideways. Yes, that's right, 34 minutes. I've put the song on Youtube, and had to make 4 seperate video's, which was very annoying...

Kyzix is right, by the way, both Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun are beautiful albums, two of the more 'mellow' PT- albums. Any album is worth checking out actually.

I like Fear Of A Black Planet a lot. The lyrics are great. I haven't found an interesting prog band in a while. This is awesome.
