That's a great list. Of course free programs are a trial and error thing, you've got to find what works for you. I've tried a lot of these apps, some are good, some are not.

I use Avast under the antivirus programs. I recommend it. It catches more things than Norton caught for me.

The 3D Graphics programs seem nice. Are they worth it thought? Or is gettin the real deal more worth it. I am interested in modeling of some sorts.

thank you, this post is very usefull
add this three programs: vmware, qemu and virtual pc 2004 they emulate another OS in your pc so if you have a game or something that doesn´t work on xp you can use that programs

Spybot - Search & Destroy is good, and Ad-aware are the best anti-virus
programs. Those are the ones I have.
