hey, if anyone can help me.. please read this.
the videos that come off the camera upload to the computer as a .mov file. i downloaded many programs, hoping for a program that will support the .mov file without converting it to an .avi or a .wmv file. i found one program that supported the .mov but it came out VERY blurry and you couldnt even distinguish who was who once imported into the program from my computer.
does anyone know what program can help me?

for those movie editing software you can try the trial.
trial for premiere pro 2 should be full, isnt it?
do you mean like make the video brighter/darker?
for free ones i think WMM/imovie works but it doesnt give you the choice of how bright or how dark you want it to be.
For pictures, use photoshop.

Hey there,
I have one question...
I need to do a presentation about Vietnam War and I have a lot of short clips (.avi) extracted from different movies about it...
I want to put some text before each clip, and I tried Windows Movie Maker, but when I insert a video to the library, WMM makes a lot of mini mini clips and when I pull them to the track suddenly the window gets closed.
I donīt want to fix it, I just need to know one easy, small and practical soft to make this, put .avi files and text and make a mpg or avi, whatever..
Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance,
MN

Close all your other programs except WMM and try it again.
If you just want text before the video, WMM will get the job done easily.
try the trial for premiere pro from adobe.com or other editing software trials.
For editing software trials:
import your videos and drag them to the timeline. add the title by placing it on top of the video and adjust the video after/with/before the text.
You are able to adjust the fonts, text style, place, and length.
Not applicable to WMM.

I know this is not a question, but it's a video effects program.
I'm not sure if anyone has heard of it before, but I resently stumbled across a video effects program named particleIllusion 3.0. With it, I was able to duplicate some of the effects you see in the smosh videos, except for maybe camera shake. However, it can be slow sometimes and takes away the audio, so it's only good if you have only music in the background or can separate the sound file from the video.

I know, I said it wasn't a question, I was just pointing out another video editing program I found.
But I guess I have one now. Is AE free, or cheap? How do you do camera shake with it? And can you make the entire screen flash with it as well?

So AE is 900 dollars?
Does Premier have any decent effects? For example, cloning? Anything better than WMM. Also, how much is it, and is it worth the money?
One more thing for 'ya, I'm using the Vegas trial, but when I try and import videos straight from my camera, I can only hear the sound. I can't view the video. I'm guessing this means my video format isn't supported in Vegas? I have to save each individual clip to WMM as a movie file, and then open it in Vegas. It's a pain in the arse.

adobe.com for prices.
if you want effects it has definitely got to be AE.
If your a professional its worth the money but if your only using it for fun, get it from your friends or download it.

Hey everyone! Just started watching smosh videos and I got to say, they're pretty good.
I was wondering, I'm using Final Cut for the Mac and in the episode "Male Model" there's a part where Ian is talking to a picture of Fabio...How do I achieve that "talking picture" effect??
I've been searching on google for the last 2 hours trying to find some kind of tutorial!!
Slapdash-videos-Webdesign
Oct. 1, 2007. 09:29 PM
what they did <what i would have done> is using a still photo of him holding Fabio!!!! (!!!! necessary) they took the pic of him holding fabio and put a bright Green oval in the center (over his mouth) then they used fillm they captured of ians mouth as a green screen cut out thing. so now they use the still photo as a layer and video of ian as another blend the two with a Chroma keyer (green screen effect) and have the appearance of fabio talking to ian.
now i know that made no sense but i am bad at explaining things!

In Sony Vegas, is there a way you can import images at their orginal size? Vegas always resizes it, and the pan/crop doesn't work, because that just zooms into a section or crops it off.
Anybody know a way around this?
Thanks

Here's what i found:
QUOTE
Most likely "768" is a result of assuming that the video frame is actually, literally 4:3. It's not.
By convention, most older NLE's manuals calculated the corrected frame size as if the frame were really a 4:3 image. The math was wrong but it didn't usually matter because the programs didn't do the conversion for you. They were merely saying that you could use scans or camera images that were 768x576 and then before you imported it you'd have to manually convert it to your PAL frame size.
By convention, subsequent systems usually just copied the information from the older literature. Technically, the numbers are wrong, but if everyone does it wrong in exactly the same way it then you can still move media between programs easily.
For better or worse, Vegas does the conversion from square to non-square for you. Because it was written by audio guys, they actually did the math on the video sample rates and came up with different numbers. Vegas' math is right, but sometimes being right isn't as useful as going along with everyone else's wrong answer. So you might have a compositing program that insists that you need to use 768x576 for your output while Vegas might want something else. You might need to do some adjusting to get this output to work right in Vegas.
Vegas is a resampling editor which allows it to use all sorts of media on the same timeline. It was pretty revolutionary for the first several years of Vegas' life and Vegas still does it better than other systems but most other systems have closed the gap.
Vegas resamples everything to fit it to your project, including still images, which it assumes are using a 1:1 sample ratio (aka Square Pixels). The problem with this is that, to be consistant, Vegas also has to export stills that are corrected back to square pixels. This creates problems for other software.
The best thing that could happen would be for everyone to settle on a standardized PAR tag inside image files, because otherwise there's no way for software to know just how an image is supposed to be displayed.
another solution is to go to help > search for "pan crop" and follow the instructions there:
Use the controls in the Source heading on the left side of the Event Pan/Crop dialog to indicate how your video will be stretched or cropped.
Maintain aspect ratio Choose Yes from the drop-down list (or select the button) to prevent distortion of the source media file.
When you choose No, the source media's ratio of height to width is not preserved when video is stretched in the output frame.
Stretch to fill frame Choose Yes from the drop-down list if you want the media in the selection box to fill the output frame.
When you choose No, the media retains its original size, and the area outside the selection box is cropped.
another alternative is to use actions in Photoshop to speed up the process and use Match aspect ratio.
Also, PNG is the format Vegas seems to like best especially if you have any alpha channels.
