Grade 12 can be hard on the nerves but here are a few pointers that helped me survive.
#1: If you get lost in the school don't look like your lost, that is how anyone running the hazing that year (if your school does that sort of thing) will spot you. If you can get it, try to find a map of your school before hand and study it so you have some idea were you are going.
#2: Like Flip said: don't have meetings or stand in the middle of the hall between classes, it's just really annoying.
#3: Keep money in the cafeteria line handy, nothing is more embarrassing then fumbling for change with 50 other hungry people behind you.
#4: Show up early, like half an hour or so, to make sure you have time for registration of what ever may happen at your school.
#5 Don't carry a dozen pencils, pens or large amounts of paper, you will quickly become the go-to person for those who forget their supplies. Two pencils, a few pens of each colour: red, blue, black and maybe a dozen sheets of paper will last you fine.
#6: Even if it's out of your way use the main entrance, normally short cuts (back alleys are lined with seniors waiting to give the grade 9's a hard time.
#7: Don't panic, a lot of the times the hazing that you hear about are exaggerations. When I started at my high school I heard stuff like "we are going to tape you to a tree and whip pine cones at you", and nothing ever happened to anyone in my grade 9 year. Well maybe a few but they probably asked for it.

This is dumb.
Nobody really picks on you...atleast not at my school.
As long as you don't say shit about people, you should be fine.
I've never actually heard of freshmen getting picked on in real life.
It's going to be like every other year of school with the exception of some different people, classes, and you will probably have more homework.
But yes, this is in the wrong place.

At my school they have this thing called crowbar beating day. Its where all the seniors bring crowbars to school and they can hit any freshman they see as hard as they want. The teachers are allowed to join in the fun too.

HIGH SCHOOL IS WAY OVERRATED! there is nothing to be nervous about. a lot of people still act like kids but you'll get used to it. oh and if there is a senior prank on the last day of school dont think they wont do it cuz they will, well there was at my school. and im sure they cant think of anything clever anyway.

Honestly, it's not taht bad and all these older people are going to tell you take a beating and get it over with but it's not going to happen. No one is going to hurt you and if anyone threatens you they can get in a lot of trouble.

im going to be freshman but im not worried, my sister is going there and is an upperclassman. but she is activities commissioner.
and she said she is goig to pick me to do the 'activities' at rally's.
what exactly goes on during rally's?
Leepay
Aug. 14, 2007. 03:45 PM
I think she means pep rallies. Don't worry that's just when people go crazy over their own school teams and do fun stuff. You'll have a good time.

Exactly.
And even if something did come up, most schools now have cameras everywhere and there's usually always a teacher or someone else around.
But I'm positive there is nothing to worry about.

There isn't really anything that you need to worry about. Just don't be annoying. You can't help it that kids that are older think they're cool by calling you freshman, it's stupid. Just do what you would do.

Sophomore year is the easiest year in highschool, 9th grade can be shitty for alot of people, but after a few weeks everything should be okay. Junior year is the hardest by far and Senior year should be relaxing

ok I didn't read all the advice given but here's my two cents:
-DO NOT block the hallways or doorways.
-don't block seniors lockers
-don't stand in the lunch line with your friends if you don't intend on buying anything
-don't yell across the halways to havce conversations with your friends. no one else wants to hear it
-if you wear uniforms and are a female, don't waer your kilt first day...it's and unwritten rule
-if you have no idea what is going on, or where to go, ask for help instead of walking around in circles (its better to ask for help from student government..at my school they wear something defining so people know)
-you should be more worried if you have older siblings that go there...because if they dont make it hell for you, someone that knows them will
that's all I can come up with right now

It's not bad being a freshman, nothing bad happens except freshmen get booed at pep rallies (or at least at my school).
