Official Rules

4. Your signature must be your own work. If you are asked to prove the authenticity of your entry, you must do so.

6. Your signature must be of a reasonable size (rectangular in shape with a maximum width of 555px and a maximum height of 400px). If you are asked to resize your signature, you must do so.
7. You may only post one entry in one post, and any further changes to your entry must be posted in replacement of your original entry. All changes made to any post other than your original entry post will be ignored.
8. You may not vote for yourself in the voting thread.
9. If you are caught voting multiple times in the voting thread, you will receive a one-week suspension from the SOTW (including voting).
10. If you are proven guilty of stealing a signature, you will receive a one-week suspension from SOTW. If you are caught two more times following the first, you're banned indefinitely from SOTW.

Failure to adhere to any of these rules will result in the disqualification of your entry.

There's no need for the General Discussion to have two SOTWs.

I suggest making a theme poll (include Duran if you must...), let it run for a day or so, then pick whichever theme wins and use the standard SOTW format.

There is only one SOTW. Everyone have already agreed on doing this SOTW over the one that Kristan decided.

Nobody wants Kristan's shitty themes like "flowers" and "inspirations." Fuckin' snooze.

You clearly missed the point of my argument. The whole premise of this thread was that, until recently edited, this was to be a second or replacement SOTW competition. That's retarded, and that's what I was speaking out against.


You're a mod. I shouldn't have to explain to you how theme selection is supposed to work. Request a theme in the SOTW Theme Ideas thread, and it may be selected. Kristan's selection is no more arbitrary than a selection by your little clique.

For the record, I think this theme is not well-suited for the General Discussion given it's highly specific and perhaps even alienating subject matter. Even I don't know shit about Duran, and I'm on here all the time. This a theme directed at the Ventrillo audience. SOTW themes are meant to appeal to Smosh as a whole, not a select few who are in on some inside joke.

But you know what? Prove me wrong. Keep the theme and see if you actually get any decent submissions. If this is successful, then it's good for all of us.

The people that usually enter SOTW are people who know about Duran. I really do think that the Duran Appreciation theme will get some stand-out entries.

I would like it, but I have not one piece of knowledge of who Duran is except 10 people miss him.

Smosh owns SOTW. Not me, not Kristin, but all of Smosh. That said, there are standards put in place to prevent this competition from turning to shit. You and your little clique's dissenting attitude reminds me an awful lot of those who broke off and created LOL, IAN. I'm sure I don't need to remind you that their experiment was an utter failure.

SOTW is indeed fun, but that doesn't justify handling it in such a way that could tarnish whatever amount of respectability it's earned over the last 59 competitions.

People will enter what they enter, sure, but whether or not those entries are anything better than shit is up for Smosh to decide. Again, I hope I like what I see.


I'm a lenient mod. Standing against a clique's invasion of an established Smosh tradition, if you will, with an inside joke of a theme that's not likely to inspire many, if any, quality entries does not make me a "serious business mod."

When I brought up LOL, IAN I was referring to the clique that decided to quit Smosh and swore never to return. Well, they returned and LOL, IAN died.

I don't mind shaking things up a bit, but you're forgetting the origin of this whole issue. Kristin's legitimate SOTW Entry Thread was closed by mods from your clique, and it was replaced by an alternate competition with a highly specific and, frankly, lame theme. I spoke out against the alternate competition, and you guys caved. From then I decided to let you all have your fun by not taking any action against the lame theme.

That doesn't mean I'm not allowed to say what I think.

"Clique" is far too accurate of a word to stop using just because you tell me to.

Im considered part of the "clique" but I never left Smosh, i was suspended for like, two days, that was it, i was neutral in some ways.
