That's a great list. Of course free programs are a trial and error thing, you've got to find what works for you. I've tried a lot of these apps, some are good, some are not.

I use Avast under the antivirus programs. I recommend it. It catches more things than Norton caught for me.

The 3D Graphics programs seem nice. Are they worth it thought? Or is gettin the real deal more worth it. I am interested in modeling of some sorts.

thank you, this post is very usefull

add this three programs:

vmware, qemu and virtual pc 2004

they emulate another OS in your pc so if you have a game or something that doesn´t work on xp you can use that programs

Spybot - Search & Destroy is good, and Ad-aware are the best anti-virus
programs. Those are the ones I have.

Ad-aware isn't an antivirus. It's for spyware. I suggest you get an antivirus immediatley.
I use ad-aware, as well. But that only gets rid of spyware.

Get Avast. I use it. It's free. It's amazing. Don't tell your friends, because if too many people get it, they may start charging lol.

nice freeware list, one of the biggest I've seen.

I'm looking for a program that will record the audio coming out of my speakers, regardless what application is making the sounds. Replay Radio does this, but not working on my Vista laptop for some reason.

Can anyone point me to a free app that does this?

btw, firefox has a great ftp plugin http://fireftp.mozdev.org/

you can get macromedia flash at www.albinoblacksheep.com, search downloads and then flash, you'll see it, and it's free

If you download a free flv player, you can use it to play youtube vids that you take out of your temporary internet files folder. It's tres cool.

This list is awesome. I actually have quite a few of these already
