For me, the best thing that has happened was that Singapore seceded from Malaysia and gained independence in 1965. (compared to the other events, this one was the best)

LOLOLOLOL. It was really exciting.

I woke up to get ready for school. The night before, we had to fill up a soda bottle with water and put it in the freezer to observe the next day. It was a science assignment. So I was uber thirsty, and we didn't have any water bottles, and our water was off from the hurricanes at the time. So, I was being brainless and I stuck the frozen bottle in the microwave for two minutes. Bad idea, lol, I know.
It started a fire in the microwave, so I tried to smother it with a cloth. I finally put it out, and at the time, my mom was alive. She was walking the dog, and I go, "MOMMY, MOMMY! THE KITCHEN WAS ON FIRE! I HAD TO PUT IT OUT!" To my surprise, on the other side of the street going for a walk was our new nextdoor neighbors that had just moved in.

Very, very, very interesting birthday morning.
