This morning, PETA dispatched a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of ice cream icon Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., urging them to replace the cow's milk in their products with human breast milk. PETA's request comes in the wake of news reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting breast milk for 75 percent of the cow's milk in the food he serves. PETA points out to Cohen and Greenfield that such a move on their part would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health at the same time.
"The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn't make sense," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "Everyone knows that 'the breast is best,' so Ben & Jerry's could do consumers and cows a big favor by making the switch to breast milk."

It may be healthier, but I would never eat anything with human breast milk in it.

You missed the point. I'm not saying I think drinking cow's milk is disgusting. But it's ridiculous if you're going to say it's disgusting to drink milk from a human, like most of us do when we're babies, but it's not disgusting to drink it from a fat beast that lays in it's own shit all day.

At no point is anybody suggesting people go out and start sucking milk directly from women's (Especially not their mother's) breasts. I hope you don't think that's what PETA are proposing? It would be treated, like cow's milk is. It wouldn't be out of the breast and into a carton.

It may be healthier, but I would never eat anything with human breast milk in it.
But you'll drink it from a fat, smelly, dirty cow?
yes.. i do it almost every morning
You missed the point. I'm not saying I think drinking cow's milk is disgusting. But it's ridiculous if you're going to say it's disgusting to drink milk from a human, like most of us do when we're babies, but it's not disgusting to drink it from a fat beast that lays in it's own shit all day.
because since (as far as ive learned) humans use animals as food, and we are custom to eating / drinking from them. as much as they lay in their own shit.
okay, would you rather (right now) go suck milk from your mom or go to a farm and drink fresh milk ? (not directly from the cow of course)
What? How is that a fair comparison? Would I rather suck milk DIRECTLY from my mother, or would I rather drink fresh milk? What the fuck is that? Of course I'd rather drink the fresh milk, but that's soooo irrelevant.
At no point is anybody suggesting people go out and start sucking milk directly from women's (Especially not their mother's) breasts. I hope you don't think that's what PETA are proposing? It would be treated, like cow's milk is. It wouldn't be out of the breast and into a carton.
It's obvious it will be processed .. but I still think it's disgusting..
I wasn't talking to you. The other idiot didn't seem so clear on that.
Now run along with this boring 'disgusting' rubbish, you little scamp, you.
It's disgusting.

Is it wrong to want to stop the unnessesary cruelty and abuse of animals? Sure, some of these people go way overboard but you can't just say the entire organization are a bunch of crazies. All organizations have their psychos.

Well, ahead of time I'd like to know exactly who's tit I'm drinking from.

I kind of agree with british on his point, too, but I don't see why this is such a big deal. From what I've collected in this thread is that peta or whoever is just trying to make a statement, apparently.

That's not the question you were asking at all.
Using my mother's breasts as the alternative to a cow's udders is ridiculous. I can't make fair judgement if you're going to phrase it in such a personal way. The who is irrelevant. It's human breast milk, not my mother's breast milk. If the choice was for everyone to either only drink human breast milk or only drink cow's milk, I really wouldn't care. But I'd probably choose human, because of what boxx0r said..

The problem with this plan isn't that human breast milk is disgusting (it's not, obviously), but that PETA are suggesting we relieve the "plight" of dairy cows by basically replacing them with humans. Simply because of the difference in physical size between humans and cows, it would be practically inconceivable to make any sort of dent in the dairy market with human milk. And if we were going to actually try to take this anywhere, it wouldn't change the industrialization of the industry, it would just be humans that were raised on farms and hooked up to pumps instead of cows. So basically, PETA is suggesting that we save the cows by condemning the humans.
on second thought, that paragraph is way too intellectual for this thread.
tl;dr: Stupid idea, PETA.

After reading some of these posts, I can see how drinking breast milk wouldn't be so bad. When I first read about this I was like, "wtf that's disgusting!" But now thinking about it, the milk would be sanatized and clean. So I change my mind about it being disgusting. I do, however, wonder how this would be accomplished. Replacing cows with humans seems a bit extreme and unrealistic.
