Ms Nixon, who will head a new body to direct the rebuilding process across the state, said although the final death toll from the devastating bushfires was not yet known, the Coroner's office had made provisions for 300 people.
"We have confirmed 181 deaths. As we gain access to locations we then are discovering more bodies," Ms Nixon said.
This is serious news. The worst natural disaster in Australian history. And there's suspected that there's an arson behind all of it. This is no laughing matter for you people in America.
For me this is honestly sad how people lost everything.

my math teacher was talking about this the other day. it sounds just terrible. he told us that they think someone lit it in a valley and because the grass was so dried out and winds were up to 60 miles an hour, the fire spread like... well, wildfire. the fire was moving so fast even people in cars couldn't outrun it.

I live in victoria and i was pretty close to the fires.
My uncle actually saved his house in King Lake which was one of the worst hit areas.
I couldn't get to school because most of the roads were blocked.
We were driving down this highway and there were literally about 50 burnt cars, most likely with people inside them.
It looked like a scene out of a movie or something, scary stuff.

I read the death toll could get up to 300. And this is just a few days ago from the people saying it might get up to 200.

Isn't that like 'Sex on Fire', except it's a joke aimed against all those that died in the arson attacks?
I don't often take the moral highground, don't get used to it.

This was headline news on the paper the other day. I was quite upset reading some of the surviving townsfolk talk about it afterwards.
What a horrid incident.
And the fact that the fires were set on purpose...

My friend was in Victoria for his holiday and his mum and his stepdad broke up or some shit and he was going to live there. But then his mum and his step dad. If they stayed up there, they would be very fucking close to the fires.

It's sad. But it's no more tragic than all the people dying in Palestine...then again, it's so much easier to care about people in modern, "civilized" countries.
