I searched and couldn't find a topic already, but there's so many websites now that offer things like free iPods and MacBooks, I don't know what is a scam and what isn't. I've been thinking of trying some of these because who doesn't want free stuff, right? If you have ever tried them, which ones are scams and which ones aren't?

Most are, but I think there are a few that aren't.

Those are usually just pop-ups, but scam websites are ones that aren't logical at all, one website was taken down recently because they were selling xbox 360s for $35.00, but stole your credit card information and messed up your accounts, so basically it's anything that is to good to be true, and don't get a free Mac or iPod, if something like that is free, it's a scam.

You should be able to tell whether sometime is a scam or not. You should know better not to give your credit card number out, etc to a website unless you know the site is legit and you see customers who have actually used it like testimonials or whatever.

Those ones that say to enter your credit information in order to check your credit history... they aren't checking your background. In case anyone is morbidly retarded.

How could you even buy that someone will give you a free iPod, iPhone, computer, etc just because you see an ad on a website? Plus, if you click on them, they probably ask for all your credit card information. Its clear its a fucking scam.

Most people just say "You could win" and then when they get your e-mail when you sign up they can get so many e-mails with that and then they give them to people and they spam the e-mails with stuff and that's basically the scam.
But the ones on TV are just saying at the bottom in small print "Txt msg costs 2$"

99% are scams, some do work though. But you do have to invest some money into it and time. Which is worth it sometimes.
Say its a referal site you need 10 people to join under your name and you get $500. THey have forums where that person will pay 10 people, $15 each to sign up. He still makes a profit and its still worth it, just a pain.
