Don't get me wrong, I'm a small fan of Nigahiga's videos, but Smosh is way better! Why should they be #1 on youtube? I can think of a million reasons why they should at least closed to each other in suscribers! What do you think?

It's probably because Smosh promotes Smosh.com more than YouTube. I'm sure if you combined the amount of people subscribed on YouTube and on Smosh.com, Smosh would be miles ahead.

You're kidding me, right? That's a bit of a bold statement, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's subject to opinion.
Really, all Fred does is talk in a whiny voice, and nigahiga have some funny moments but for the most part their videos are boring. Smosh is more experienced, they're better actors and film editors, and they have more original ideas. Plus, they have more variety.

I don't see why nigahiga and Fred are ahead of them, and I'm fairly sure that jocelynmurphy was right about how they put more effort into promoting smosh.com than their YouTube channel. Plus, Smosh was number one on YouTube for a long time, and people never like to let anything stay at the top for too long, because if something's really good you'll always have a lot of people claiming it's "overrated" just for the sake of it.

If they don't? What if something new comes along? Did they really have any talent to begin with? You have to wonder about these things. My guess is no. But hey, I'm just going by the basic trends of everything.

A lot of popularity isn't being the best. Several other factors contribute to things like this. The fact that these people are so high on the list just tells me that they got some lucky exposure and that the general audience of Youtube is dumb as fuck.

Of course it was vague. Am I supposed to know all the billions of reasons for which people might subscribe to Smosh? My point is that people on YouTube in general like them. I already elaborated on why I, personally, subscribed to Smosh (and not nigahiga or Fred), but that's my own opinion.

And hey, I'm not quite that desperate for Smosh to keep number three on YouTube. Whether Fred or nigahiga or some other dumbass has more subscribers than them won't stop a lot of people from watching their videos. Smosh is a longstanding entity on YouTube, so I don't think they're going to slip down in the rankings that easily. If they do, fine. But we already know that subscribers on YouTube aren't particularly bright, so it doesn't necessarily mean much if they lose that number three spot. I'll respect your opinion if you don't think Smosh is funny, but you haven't provided many decent points for that argument.



That last bit I'll agree with. The fact that Fred Figglehorn is high in the rankings at all proves that the YouTube population consists mostly of idiots.
Smosh, though may have had "lucky exposure" when they first started, but they've been making videos for a long time. The fact that they've stayed so popular for so long shows that your opinion of them isn't very common. I agree, popularity doesn't necessarily mean they have talent, but Smosh also won a YouTube award, did they not? And back when they started out on YouTube, the general standards weren't as demented as they are now.

You can go on arguing that Smosh has no talent, but it kind of makes me wonder what you're doing on the Smosh website in the first place if you don't like them at all...

I was going to dissect this entire post, but then I saw the bolded section.

What makes you think, in this case, that smosh is any different? They get subscriptions everyday, probably the same people who subscribe to Nigahiga or Fred. I'm allowed to use this logic, because as you said, subscribers on Youtube aren't particularly bright.

You can say it's the quality of their videos. If anybody has ANY perception of what satire is, you'd know that Fred can do it better than smosh. This doesn't mean Fred is good. In fact, he's pretty bad at that too. But hey, when you watch them side-by-side, you'll see that. A lot of people might argue Fred is one-dimensional. What do you expect him to do, build a fucking web out of such a simple premise? smosh don't tie any ideas together. Aside from 'Food Battle' and stuff like that, and you can see how brilliantly those turn out.

And you know what? You can argue that this is all nonsense. Who am I to say smosh are in fact more generic than the people preceding them? Who am I to say that even though smosh have been on Youtube for longer, that doesn't mean that anything they do is better than their generic contemporaries? Who am I to say that new users make videos with ten times the writing ability, ten times the production, ten times the humor? Who am I to say that just because smosh had something, it doesn't mean they deserve it? You can just argue that I have an opinion, and this is all subjective. That I just don't like 'smosh'. That's it, right? It's not that smosh is bad. I just don't like them. Now when you don't like Fred, he's bad! But that's okay. What's the name of this website again? That's what I thought. Well who am I? I guess, I'm a subscriber on Youtube and I'm just not particularly bright.

For the record, I'm on this website for the community (mainly a nostalgia of what the community used to be before the website committed suicide), as are a lot of long-time users on this site. I'll admit I haven't been here long, but I know why I am. And it's most certainly not for the videos.

PS, I provided probably the easiest and strongest argument possible in my first post, so your 'You don't have any arguments' rah rah bullshit won't work here. Look at the world. Honestly, put down whatever trend you're into now, and back up. Think about how, in reality, within a few years, maybe even months, it's going to dissipate. Times change more than trends, but just barely.

to be honest, nigahiga sucks. i watched one of their vids and turned it off halfway through. instantly after, i pooed myself. through the following week, i was in uncontrollable fits of rage and sorrow, knowing that they had more subscribers than smosh. every night i wept into my pillow just thinking about it. i got over it though. but i still think smosh is better.
