Ok, listen to this, Barack Obama has won the peace prize, but there's a huge rant on some websites like yahoo, and aol, saying this can effect his presidentcy? This makes no sense to me, this should more like help him, I for one, dont like his antics as president, and about 3/4 of our nation will agree.

The Nobel Committee shot their wad all over Obama. His being a "world citizen," as opposed to being an American one, apologizing for our being what we are, is one reason they gave him the award. Another is that he's not Bush.
Remember, they gave Yassir Arafat, Jimmy Carter, and Al Gore the same prize.
Phunny how it is that they are all either left wingers or just plain evil (Arafat).
Lesson learned: Consider the source. The prize has lost its meaning. It's just a good old boy left wing club.

I can understand the reason they gave Obama the award. The fact that he is trying to create peace is a very admirable quality. That, and he has convinced Iran to meet with us peacefully for the first time in decades. That alone is reward worthy.

However, if I am not mistaken, the nominations for the award were due February 1st or some date around then. Meaning Obama was nominated a week into his term. That is not enough to base an award around.

Left wingers? Haha, not by a long shot. Democrats are typically centrists, slightly to the right even.

The prize never had a whole lot of meaning. Alfred Nobel, who invited dynamite (irony!), started giving out prizes for stuff because he wanted to have better legacy.

Have you ever studied politics? Or just looked at them in general?
Democrats and Republicans are on opposite sides of the scale, on the left and right respectively. Just the fact that you think Democrats are in the right-central just shows you shouldn't be contributing to this conversation.

Why do you and so many others seem to believe that America's two-party system somehow spans the entire political spectrum?

If democrats and republicans are truly opposites, then we can assume democrats are on the extreme left and republicans are on the extreme right. This would leave absolutely no room for actual leftist ideologies (for example, anarchism).

The political compass test, mapped by U.S. senators:

States in which both senators are democrats:
http://politicalcompass.org/charts/statesb...,ri,va,wa,wv,wi

States in which both senators are republicans:
http://politicalcompass.org/usstates?al=on...ut=on&wy=on

As you can see, democrats are slightly more left-wing economically and slightly less authoritarian. Slightly.

Where did I say that those two parties span the entire spectrum? We have a plathera of political parties in the United States.
I also did not say that either parties were extreme left or right wings.

So instead of judging me and "so many Americans" you take my words at face value, and stop shoving others down my throat.

Took us 8 years to go from a surplus with Clinton to a recession with Bush. Give the man some time and credit. Like you, and I, he is only human, and is trying very hard.

It wasn't really a question. I was more just giving him candy since he actually continues to pretend he is the President.

You are extremely right. Even though Obama has (definetely) made some mistakes and you can disagree with his decisions, it doesn't mean you can gang up on him and act like he's some dumb butt who is only out to drain the country's money. For a politician, he seems to actually care. And for all the criticism I hear, I don't see anyone trying to do ANYTHING beneficial except whine. If you're going to complain, at least do something about it. tongue.gif

Or you could have read my last quote where I said I wasn't actually calling out the President
masterofdisaster29

Why do you you have to be president to do nothing and get so far. If that was true with everyone I would be dictator of the world. wink.gif
