Yesterday I was at the department store looking at the latest movies that had come out on DVD when I saw a young woman that worked at the store, around my age, that I had talked to a bunch of times before. From those times I gathered that she was super nice and also shared my love of movies. Plus she was super cute. Obviously I was smitten and I decided to work up the courage to ask her out.

So we got to talking again that day during my visit there and we were hitting it off, and I said something like a movie wasn't a movie unless you were experiencing it at the theater with your popcorn and the audience getting into it, and someone's cell phone would ring once in a while. She laughed and said she totally agreed.

"Well I don't mean to sound too forward," I asked. "But would you like to go do that sometime? See a movie? I've got some free time this weekend."

And that's all I said, honestly, but instantly the girl got nasty and pointed at me.

"I swear I get a dozen guys that walk into the store everyday and ask me out. What makes you think that I would even possibly say yes to YOU?"

I figured since I'd been shot down this badly it wouldn't make much of a difference what I said at that point. So I gave the first reply that came to mind.

"Gee...I don't know. Because you said yes to the eleven others?"

The girl's jaw dropped and she stormed off, making a bee-line to the sporting goods section. I assumed she was making a grab for a baseball bat or a golf club. So I got my happy ass out of there.

Yeah, it didn't end well yesterday. I swear, where's the love?
