Full Version: The NEW iMac

I am going to get the new 27' iMac with the 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4GB of RAM memory.

I want to edit HD video, like, I want to keep this computer for a loooong time, and when I have enough for a really expensive high quality video camera, I want to know that the computer will still be able to smoothly edit these videos.

Or, I could upgrade to the 3.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo for $200 and 8GB of RAM for an additional $200.

But I only want to do that if I have too.

What do you suggest? Which of the two would I need more?

...Did you just make this to tell us that you're getting a new computer? And you don't need an extremely expensive video camera for making mediocre videos.

Get one with two 2.93 GHz quad-core Xeons, 32GB of 1066MHz DDR3, RAID Card, 4TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3GB/s, 4x NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512MB, Two 18x SuperDrives, and a Fibre Channel Card.

What? Why would I make a thread to brag about a new computer? That's immature and stupid. It isn't even THAT much. I'm serious though, I want to invest in something that will last a long time.

I didn't know that you could use the fact that somebody was on a forum as a valid argument as why they suck. Something new everyday.

Also, your grammar is bad.
toymachine531
You're insulting his grammar when his videos exist?

Holy shit TeeEss, priorities man.
TeeEss
I figured we'd get a sort of tag-team deal going down, where we get several trained individuals to randomly insult all of the sad aspects of his life. But just in case my dreams never occur, I did take a moment aside to watch one of your videos, Fonboozles, and I'm going to make a generalization that they're all made with that writing strength and acting finesse. Your videos all therefore suck.

Priorities have been met!

These are the moments I love Smoshcom.

I think I can compare this situation to something:

Tobias: Lucille, I believe what you are going through right now is called 'denial'. You see, denial is when a memory is so painful or unplesant, that the brain literally blocks it out so as to not feel uncomfortable.

Lucille:
Tobias, you're a terrible actor, a failure as a husband, and a terrible therapist.

Tobias: ... Well... If she's not going to say anything, I'm not going to bother.

I understand it can hurt when the truth is thrown in your face. Sometimes, in order to retain any sense of dignity, you start looking for the very small positive impacts that you get, such as an increase in your view count (because apparently, the fact that you're artistically expressing yourself in your videos comes second to the amount of people who view/hate your videos). It's also customary to be sarcastic, because somewhere along the line, it was taught to you that you can still leave a fight broken, bloody and bruised but still feel like a million bucks by throwing a sarcastic bit in there.

You're acting very naturally. However, you also come across as a baby who's never learned how to properly construct any argument or idea without being a fake cynic about it.

OH, AND:

I edit HD video on a 2.66 GHZ iMac with 4GB ram. You should be fine with the specs you listed.

You can also buy RAM and add it later if you need an upgrade later.

Have you seen the 27" iMacs though? They're freaking massive. You should make sure you look at it in person before you make your decision.

I went into BestBuy today and checked it out. I love the massiveness.
