i think yes becuase, everybody was flipping out over woodstock and then lord knows how much later, and you would walk by a car and hear the superbass on and rhymes coming out of the speakers and you wonder "what the crap is that?" and then gangs got worse, and rap incourages violence. i mean wharever happened to the good bands like Journey, The Who, Steve Perry, Rush and so on? if you think no, please explain your reasoning. same for yes.

Yea, rap is is really just rhymes to a drum track, not even real drums. the old bands like the who, the beatles, the led, srv, and jimi hendrix are timeless. they will never die. hip hop/ rap songs are off the charts within a few months or so. rock will live forever! it will reurn!

Rap/hip-hop is music, too. A perfectly valid form of expression.
Along with EVERY style of music, there is bad/good music present in each genre. You might think that the bad hip-hop artists are the only popular ones, and that that's why hip-hop gets a bad rap. But it's not.
Because anybody can dedicate themselves to an instruments and play like an skilled idiot without talent. They can think they're good when really they're trash (See Dragonforce). However, how many people do you know that can rhyme with fluidity and flow without it almost being a godgiven gift? Hardly any. Most people are just jealous, if you ask me.
There is bad music in every genre, as I've said. Hip-hop just seems to get more 'bad artists' in the limelight. But that doesn't mean that your precious 'rock' music doesn't have its share of bad popular bands. AC/DC, Aerosmith, etc. all degrade the rock genre. The same way certain popular hip hop artists degrade the hip-hop genre.
Fuck, it's not hip-hop that's ruining music. It's just people that fucking suck at music.

rap incourages violence.
Do some rappers encourage violence? Sure.
Does that mean the genre itself encourages violence? No. You can rap about pancakes and sh
it and it would still be rap. It's not a lyric-specific genre.

Saying rap is over a drum machine only is just ignorant. Plenty of artists have full bands behind them in performances. Kanye West has an entire section of strings in some of his performances. Other times there is a rapper at the head of your more traditional band arrangements. It's still rap/hip-hop.
The only part of music that mainstream rap is ruining is mainstream rap. It's also apparently ruining the perception of the entire genre to people who really don't know what they're talking about.

Art is a type of expression.
So you're saying it's impossible for somebody to express themselves through that genre? You're also saying the voice isn't an instrument? You're also saying that rappers can't use any instruments?
Jazz didn't use electric guitars at first. Things change. It used to weird for rock bands to have synthesizers. Not anymore. Rap artists can use as many instruments as anybody else. It can make the musical experience more rich.
You're making up very stupid boundaries about something you know absolutely nothing about.

Sure Mainstream rap is ruining Mainstream music, but so is every other genre(pop, country, rock)
if you want good music, rap or whatever(but mostly good rap), you should check out the underground rap movement, thats where all the good rappers reside.

If rap is ruining music, then I would say artist like miley cyrus, country music and any garbage screamo and metal bands are as well.
Anyone who dismisses rap so ignorantly can be described as this:
Never listened to the genre past the radio
They are slightly afraid of black people
They are a butthurt metal head.
Nothing wrong with any genre, and dont let one artist represent the whole genre of music.
