Well, once the power at my house went out. Except it was on a calm night, we DIDN'T blow a fuse, and after calling the electric company from a cell-phone (for people who didn't know you could, you can), they checked out the power lines and house but found no problems. No tripped wires, no overheated lines, nothing! And my house was the only one in the neighborhood with this problem! Then, just as soon as the the workers were about to try again, the power came just like how it dissapeared.

i've had too many paranormal encounters to keep track of.
i didn't used to believe, and now i do. totally.
im not saying im psychic, i just think some are more susceptible to picking up extrasensory whatevers (my friends and i call it "the shine"... admittedly after the movie The Shining for lack of a better word. it sounds better than a "6th sense")

A lot of these things have nothing to do with the paranormal.
Such as, the electricity going out: I'm not an electrician, but it could have been any number of problems in your house that wouldn't have set off a problem in the power line.
The pillow: Maybe someone threw it at you then ran away?
The wires only damaging the poles: That's because they are attached to the poles and can't go anywhere else.

my best friend and his wife used to live in this house. admittedly by the landlord, it was easily over 100 years old. every night i spent in that house, i would sleep in the back guest room across the hall from the master. it had lots of windows, and the blinds were always down. there were security lights outside that were always on. every night, i saw a man walk by the windows. not only me, but my friend who lived in the house as well in the master bedroom with his fiance. several other people had stayed in this house with them and had seen the man walk by the back windows too. at first, they thought it was just their room, so they even switched rthe master and the guest room. still, the man walked behind the back of the house every night, no matter which room. footsteps were always heard, but footprints were never found, but smudged handprints were found on windows. doorknobs would twist as if trying to open. this man who walked outside did this every night for almost 2 years. in fact, we would be trying to sleep, get an uneasy feeling, and then wake up always in time to see his torso walk by the windows. this is a slow pace. not some blink of an eye bullcandy. no doubt in my mind that this place was extremely haunted by a man who just wanted to make sure his house was okay, but was a little peeved someone besides his family was residing there. Walt (the landlord) is 80 something years old, and his grandfather built the house. maybe its him just a little upset walt didnt keep the house just in the family and was renting it to us.
they finally moved out, and are in another house now where an old farmhouse used to sit. granted, this is nothing like the old house, but me, my boyfriend, and my friend who owns this house have heard a disembodied voice of an older man. this house is a total normal nice house. this new place and this new entity (if there is one) doesnt seem menacing or angry. just intrigued we're here. never shown himself (yet) or moved anything (yet) just tried to say a few things.
this is just ONE instance of paranormal whatever.

So, you constantly saw some guy walking around the house at night, leaving hand prints on the doors and windows....
.....and you never thought about calling the cops?
GoToaSkaShow
Jan. 4, 2010. 01:21 PM
we did. the third time we called they did a full investigation and scoured the orchards... and they found no "plausible" or "tangible" evidence.
and then they told us "hey, things can get creepy out here at night. your eyes are playing tricks on you."

I'll believe you on this one
that must've sucked not being able to call the cops or the cops would just tell you that
it's like in those kiddy horror movies where there's nothing you can do about it but fix it yourself
If you'd looked on my (fake) HALO ODST2 forum you'd see on the second link that I tried to trick maverick into going onto was a video called relaxing car ride a screamer where actually I got the picture from the first page from (the zombie)
I watched that video when i was ten by curiosity and I was more freaked out by the paranormal then ever before
The only real paranormal thing that happened to me was one night when I (sex I just heared sumthin) was nine or something I went to bed in a furry bathroab and no the bathroab isn't what I'm talking about
it was really sexing hot when I went to bed with it (I mean warmth not the other kind of hot) and I was dreaming about being well... what else.... being too hot and suddenlyfrom feeling like I would have a heatstroke, I thought (I couldn't tell if I was dreaming or not) I awoke and I heard this really sharp shhh like if someone was telling you to be quiet
it could've just've benn me dreaming about it and me hearing my own snoring as the shhh
but every time I heard it I kept getting more scared and as I got more scared, the sound got louder and about a minute later I could hear crows chirping and it was like it was telling (sshhhhhing) them to shut up
I don't know what it was and I'll probably never know
P.S. to the dude with the shadow of the man going around his house, I'd recommend going outside at night (ya gotta have nerves of daimond to do it) and search around all of the sides of the house and see if you can spot any apparitions of the man
and if he's like a zombie or soething that's actually there and not just a spirit
I'm sure you'll catch him, he goes at a slow pace

oh for sure. hahahaha! we were all too scared to even talk to each other about it. it was only when candy started happening when multiple people were around (multiple eyewitnesses) that we started to ask each other about the man that we all had seen walk by the windows. we all thought we were individually crazy and didnt want to scare anyone else by even mentioning it.
we havent been in that house for at least 3 years now... we still get the urge to go back and drive past the house to see if we can see the man from the outside (because up until now, we were all indoors looking out when we saw him pass by the blinds).
another incident (impressive, though not reoccurring) was when i was at some house with my buddies, and i was seated in a chair with my back facing the fireplace. all four friends were in front of me trying to persuade me to drive them somewhere and i didnt want to waste gas and insisted we all hung out there. i felt a hand on my right shoulder. so, i turned my head a bit to see who was there, but there was no one, and i convinced myself my hair just fell over my shoulder strangely and it was nothing.... until i felt the invisible hand i swore wasnt on my shoulder squeeze, like someone was trying to convince me to stay right there in that chair.
of course i looked around like a goddamn lunatic and immediately started crying. jumped up, got in my car, and left. never went back. my friends later admitted they had seen strange people walking around that house and weird poltergeist like activity did occur there.
fvckin ridiculous, man.

Poltergiest activity? Like in the movie with that girl comin ou of the TV??
out dunno what that's about but it sounds creepy as f***
I never seem to see why people are afraid of ghosts
even though I'm VERY afraid of them (I still go under the covers when I sleep)
Ghosts can't harm you, only demons and posessions, and posessions I thought would actually be kinda awesome
You can see ghosts but usually it's just some faint figure, and I thought I once saw one, but it was just light coming in from a window I think
Ghosts can't scream or surprise you or anything, though I'm still paranoid of that happening
I'd hate to find out that they are real the hard way, and I ust wanna keep it that way
This is startin to feel like sittin around the camp fire kind of stories

This is my favorite post. Starting with the hypocracy in bold.
Are any of these "facts" actual facts?
How do you know what a ghost looks like, if it can or cannot scream, or what they can do? (Not that I believe in them).
The worst part is that they can't "surprise" you. I am pretty sure that if anyone saw a ghost, surprise would be one of the first things they felt.

no, poltergeist activity like seeing things move on their own outside of physical possibility.
for example... in yet ANOTHER house i was in, i have witnessed a door leading into the kitchen open on its own accord, doorknob turning included. and i was not by myself, i had another friend in the room who witnessed this as well. later that day, i was sitting in this kitchen with my friend. we were drinking coffee and she excused herself to leave and use the restroom. as i was staring of aimlessly, her coffee cup (still with coffee in it) moved across the table about 6 inches. the table is level, and dry, and it even made the scraping sound. but these are the only incidents ive had in this house.
this is considered poltergeist activity.

Exactly. Just because I don't believe in the paranormal doesn't mean it can't be true.
But it is movies like Paranormal Activity or shows like Ghost Hunters that continue to push these beliefs in the paranormal upon us. You have to remember that they are from hollywood and you can't see all of the inner workings behind the shows. Someone hears a creak or feels a hand, and a lot of people just believe the show is real. Guys, they are ACTORS!

The problem here Danny G, is that your logic is too common
as someone said: expect the unexpected.

You're just helping me prove my point. Anyone can get onto the internet and write down anything they want. And there are a lot of idiots that believe anything they read on their computers.
Also, "expect the unexpected" really has nothing to do with belieing in the paranormal.

Given that a number of scientists believe in parallel universes, I like to think that ghosts are the result of our universe accidentally crashing into a parallel one, and the ghost is actually just an image of someone from that universe. This is clearly the best theory of all time.
This is not to say that I believe in ghosts, but if I ever did see one, I would almost have to apply this semi-scientific explanation to it in order to prevent me from freaking out and becoming ultra paranoid all of the time.

Vampires have absolutely nothing to do with the paranormal. You're confusing that with fiction. Twilight and shit like that aren't based off of true events (sorry, but you're never going to get to Narnia.)

My sister's friend woke up one night and saw an old lady standing over her bed smiling at her. Thinking it was a dream at the moment, she goes back to sleep, wakes up at her alarm-set time the next morning, and goes off having a regular day at school. When she gets home, her mom asks her to retrieve something from the attic, and she goes up there. While searching, she found an old photo, containing the old woman last night in the picture. She went down stairs with the photo, and asked her mom who it was. Turns out, it was her grandmother, who died before my sister's friend was born.
This is all true.
