QUOTE(Mary-Kate Olsen @ Feb. 25, 2007)

Brand Loyalty

I have a large, red quilted Chanel bag that I borrowed from my sister Ashley. I wore it to an event and never gave it back. Luckily, she's moved on to another bag, so I'm safe for now. I'm not quite sure how many bags I have, but let's just say I have a few. When I find a bag I like, I tend to wear it to death until I become obsessed with another one. This probably happens three to five times a year. But I always come back to the Chanel. The size isn't overwhelming, and it has enough subtle detail to keep it interesting.

I also have the smaller version in blue and in white, but the red is definitely my favorite. I don't have a stylist — I'd rather just do my own thing and put together my own outfits. The chain-handle bag is the perfect accent to almost any combination I come up with. I look at everything with a designer's eye, but I wouldn't change a thing about this bag. I think that's why it's a true classic. (Source)

The culprit.

Michelle #1 is turning out to be quite the journalist.
Leo_Woof
Oh wow, I so totally have to get one of those bags now!
Mary-Kate likes them!
Nice to see her writing something useful and pertinent for a newspaper.

Sorry if the sarcasm was a little lax there.
Skittlez
ahahahahahaha whata douche
Shoreline
Wow.
I expected more from the newyorker.

That is quite hilarious.
A-Dizzle
The part that made me laugh most was the way she ended it, "I think that's why it's a true classic." Sounds like how I ended my essays in elementary school.
ungrantedxwish
That was truly inspirational. She has such a way with words!
Kristandex
hahaha. They actually let her write in the TIMES? She's horrible at writing.

Sounds like an essay my 10 year old sister would write.

How is, "I don't have a stylist — I'd rather just do my own thing and put together my own outfits." relevant to the article at all? Oh my.
sophiebro71
Yeah. Yeah. My perspective on live has pretty much changed forever.
thanks, mary-kate. I sure do owe you one.
heartbreaker135
oh boy!
how utterly insane can you get? writting an article on your bag...
Shoreline
I think she paid them so she could be in it.
It's probably a really small column among all the other fashion updates.

Actually this information is all false. I'll go ahead and admit that I wrote this in the 3rd grade an a celebrity impersonation assignment. Don't make fun of me.

dont use that word for her. its a disgrace to my people haha. Its so unfair, i would give anything to write for a high quality paper like that but i dont know whats the most hip bag today. all those years in college for nothing, we should have just gotten 'fashion for dummies' and 'alphabet' class.
Evil_thing_999
Wow she is a great journalist. No wonder she is much better than anyone named Cleo!
masterofeverything555

I know. She's a spoiled little brat with a fifth-grade writing style. I wonder how many spelling and grammatical errors she made in that article that the editors had to fix for her.

Haha, that's what I was thinking. I believe they missed one (unless I am bad at grammar):

"...red quilted Chanel bag that I borrowed from my sister Ashley."

Shouldn't there be a comma in between "sister" and "Ashley" ?

Anyway, if she is able to get a spot in Times, then it proves anyone can become a Journalist.

They edit anything that goes into the Times for grammatical errors so that wasn't her.

I still can't tell the difference between them.
Actually no, now I can. Ever since Mary Kate went anorexic I now know.
Ugh. I'm horrible.

Wow! She's hot, has a twin, and is a much better writer than Leepay! MK has it all.

This is NYU's finest, ladies and gentlemen.

This is still ridiculous. If I turned that in to a teacher even in grade school, it would have been ripped a part. That shit is in the New York fucking Times. If I were an editor, I would have rewrote the entire thing.
rainydaze
pure fucking genious.
she is my idol

even with sarcasm that was painful to write
all i have to say is "wtf?"

The bag looks big for her.
Perfect Crime
'HOW DID SHE GET IN THE TIMES?'

She's banging the editor.
Or the editor wants to bang her.

Bags are my favorite.

I dont use a bag like that but that one is hot!m-k knows what to choose
Léonne.
Like she wrote that herself ;p

I do believe that dear Mary-Kate must have skipped school, the day they learnt about adjectives. She doesn't get any more complex than red and large.
I suppose that is just in case she confused people with her wonderous and multi-layered way with words
protagonist
I knew the Times was going downhill, but wow...

I think I'll go get myself a fabulous new purse, MK. Your persuasive writing skill have overpowered my feeble will.
##pirategirl##
that wasnt even well written?

it was a little boring paragraph about a handbag?

it wasnt even amusing?

the idea of writing about a handbag for the NYT is funny, but she killed it with the blandness.

Well.

I guess Ive just been guaranteed a job there.

wow amazing how some1 can be so into a little hand bag tongue.gif

that sounds like some shit-wad pointless thing that they'd put in "M" magasine or "J-14" or something. haha
kerpupkin
She sounds a bit conceited to me.

Sure, everyone was obsessed with her sloppy layers a few years ago, but 'Bohemian Bourgeois' has gone out, and honestly, we don't care anymore.

Shut up, Mary-Kate!

Why does everyone dislike them!
I think they're not bad.
I havn't heard of many scandals or bad things coming from them and I also truly enjoyed their movies, especially the most recent one.
Now they're growing older in fame. I don't think their as conceited as many of the other famous teens.

Did you read the article?

It represents a lot of what's wrong with spoiled teenagers/young adults. They have a fixation on materialism, they seem inadequately educated, and they are granted favors simply because of their status.
