Global Warming.
Anyway, I live on Long Island, New York. During this time of the year, it is usually 30 degrees (F) or below, and there is at least a foot of snow outside.
It has not snowed at all this year. My temp. says it is 52 degrees. This is the usual weather we have in the fall. It's probably going to snow in February. This summer is probably going to be 100 degrees+. It is definitely getting much warmer.
Has your temperature increased?
EDIT: 3/1: We got a total of less than one foot of snow this entire winter so far. Crazy. It was SO warm today. Like, 5-60 degrees (F) warm.

yeah, global warming has definately affected toronto, with maybe 1 snowfall this year, and temperatures never hitting below 0. our biggest ski hill had to lay off 1300 seasonal/part time workers, and if conditions don't pick up, they're shutting down for the winter.

EVERY year it has snowed in my area. At this time of the year, it is about 10 degrees about side. It is not 52 degrees. It's not just a "warm year." It is definitley getting warmer, and this summer is definitley going to be atleast 105 degrees (which is pretty hot for around here)

It's also warmer here, but I don't think that has got to do with global warming, the climate is always changing and even though this is the warmest autumn in my country since they began measuring, these high temperatures aren't because of the global warming because it's not going that fast. Plus the fact that you can't say the climate is changing because the climate is measured over 30 years, so it CAN be just a warm year.

I dont think global warming exists. My science teacher says the world is just finishing coming out of the ice age and its been gradually getting warmer for centuries. Sure its been increasing more the past few years, but its crazy to think cars are causing it. Cars havent just popped up the last few years. The earths gone through weather changes before... its not anything new. Its also considered an el nino weather pattern. But if thinking global warming exists makes people more careful with the environment, then I think its not a bad thing to think.

Like I said in 10 years Oceans level will increase by 6 meters, in a couple of years, you can forget about New York or any city close to water.
But the warming isn't because of the earth, 'cos it would be less faster, Plus, an Ice age occurs about once every 100 000 000 years. The last one occured about 10 000 years ago.

it does. 70 percent of the Netherlands is below sea level and the warmer atmosphere leads to rising seas.
in our history we had to deal with rising water a lot and so far we havent had any (recent) huge problems but its important to keep developing plans on how to keep the water out. i believe we are even working on a city that can live on rising waters, a hydropole.

Global Warming is going fast, you have no idea, stop watching Fox News Seriously. Like I know this guy who's father went to the north pole for an expedition. It's disastreous,Polar Bears and penguins can't stop migrating. Animals in Northern Canada can BARELY hibernate.
Everything's melting in a faster rate then we believed like 5 years ago. His father said that we had to take actions right now because in like only 8 years it might be too late.

Global warming isn't going that fast, they're talking about one or two degrees in a couple of years. I think it's kinda weird you already notice that.. This is just a warm year, just like it was some years ago, it's not like this has everything to do with global warming..
ahaha 2 degres? You think that's not a lot? It's INCREDIBLY HIGH.
In like what 10 years? The Oceans level's gonna grow by 6 meters, 6 meters!

I call for armaggeddon.
Everybody up to heaven.
There actually is a group of people who believe the Armageddon is this year.
haha there's a group of people that believe in Armageddon everyteay

!
Yes it is incredibly high!!!
But you can't all of a sudden notice that this year
rofl it was noticed years ago.
Yeah but not like just any person all of a sudden finds it's getting warmer because it's highly one degree in 10 years.. and you won't notice that yourself all of a sudden this year.. like OMG it's getting warmer..
You have no idea how like 1 degree can change things in North pole.
Of course I do, but we don't live in the North Pole.. so we can't in the time of a year notice the effects of global warming. I don't say there is none, because I think there is. But I don't think it's possible for people our age to be noticing the effects of global warming, the climate has always been changing so it IS possible this year is just a warm year..It has happend before
Well, I don,t think you can go outside and say, ''Omg I can feel the Global Warming!'' if that's what you mean.

You guys should watch
An Inconvenient Truth.
Global warming
is real.
Heres a clip from the movie,
http://youtube.com/watch?v=SgE_mkR2oac (yes that is in it...)
But seriously, global warming...not cool.
I've seen it, but it is a politically motivated movie from a politically motivated man. You cannot accept everything as fact, without seeing both sides...just as you cannot walk out a michael moore movie thinking you are a genious on a subject. POLITICAL DOCUMENTARIES should set alarms off in peoples heads.
Its NOT politically motivated. And all his facts are based on research, and many of them aren't even in dispute. In one part he shows the rising temperature, based on the increase, and what the temps will look like in years to come. None of it was in dispute, people just said "so, thats not so high."
Its got nothing to do with politics. He didn't make any money off it, he didn't make any gains from it.
Either way, its got a lot of good information and global warming shouldn't be ignored.
Even if global warming was a hoax, why not take precautions? Its not like pollution is good for our earth anyway, and if we implemented different ways to cut back on green house gases and all that junk then it wouldn't be a loss at all.

I am all for lowering greenhouse gasses and all, and I try to only use natural items that harm nature the least, but to much hysteria and speculation is in this whole global warming scare. 30 years ago scientists thought we were going in to an ice age and now the scientist who came up with global warming said on his death bed that he was wrong and we are not causing it.
Individually, keep on doing your best if you like, but when people like Al Gore use it and try to force it on others in spite of proof against some of his assumptions and speculations, that is when enviromentalists go too far again.
and my question was still not answered: If humans are responsible for climate changes in the past 2000 years or so, who was responsible for the last 300,000 years of warming/cooling trends?
And not politically motivated? Do you not know who Al Gore is?

I live in the Netherlands, I mean need to say more? With the ice melting, my country will be the first to know. But our temperature will decrease because the biggest influence on the temperature in my country is the sea. The ice will melt, the sea will get colder, more wind and a lower temperature in the Netherlands..if it still exists by than..

The scientific consensus on global warming has been summarized by the IPCC: "In the light of new evidence and taking into account the remaining uncertainties, most of the observed warming over the last 50 years is likely to have been due to the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations".[2] A December 2004 study—of the abstracts of the 928 refereed scientific articles identified with the keywords "global climate change" and published 1993-2003—concluded that 75% of the articles explicitly or implicitly accepted the scientific consensus. The remainder of the articles did not take any stance on recent climate change. None of the articles accepted any other hypothesis
World net carbon-emission rates would need to be reduced approximately 60%–80% by 2050 to keep global temperatures within 1°C (1.8°F) above present[5].

You completely ignored my argument of the earth's natural trends. We have been through trends like this before...it's what earth does.

it's going to snow in sacramento on friday.
the last time it snowed was in 2000.
except it's actually on the forecast this time, so maybe that means it will snow for a long period of time?

I know, its one of the coldest winters sacramento has had in a long time. BRING IT GLOBAL WARMING, WE NEED YOU.
But seriously, I was outside waiting for the lightrail at 5:00pm, with a suit on, a huge long wool jacket, wool hat, leather gloves, scarf, and I was FREEZING.

Finally a topic has woken me up from hibernation.
Trying to deny that we are warming the planet is like attempting to deny evolution. Instead of focusing on facts and scientific data, instead people use anecdotes and character assignations in order to deny scientific facts. Also, you are also disagreeing with pretty much the entire scientific establishment. You don’t have to take my word for it, but please trust the people who have doctorates and have spent years studying the issue.
Historically, as JohnTerry says, the Earth has gone through global warming and cooling periods. I would be willing to concede that we in fact may actually be going through a period where the Earth naturally heats up.
However, usually the process is much more gradual than what has been happening now. We have seen the global average temperature change much more rapidly than it ever has before. So if indeed we are going through a natural warming period then something is accelerating it.
It has been shown that when global temperatures began to rise(in recent years), it was preceded by a large increases in greenhouse gasses. In other words, as CO2 levels increase, so does the temperature.
I do agree that it is ridiculous to think that someone could notice the temperature increase at this point. But if you look at the statistics, you can see that the world is getting warmer, and getting warmer relatively quick.
