When will this dumb 'emo' trend finally end? WHEN?
ugh i could say the same thing about preps.
emos arent afraid to be different. GOD I HATE how preps use the excuse that uggs are so comfortable as the excuse that they wear them. they wear them because there afraid that ppl will make fun of them or talk about them behind their backs if the dont have or wear them. get an identity for peeeeeetttttsssss sake
And yet they all look like each other. Not very brave, I think. yea i agree emos say they wanna be different but yet all of them look alike and they dress the way the do just to be put into the emo steryotype cuz they think its coolOkay. I said earlier that this thread is becoming a topic of discriminating certain stereotypes (specifically emo). This just proves me right. Emos, goths, and punks are people too, you have no right to say that their style is inferior to yours or anyone else's. That's why it's called
style, it's what makes you different. To calmly correct ssX77 and Lene (Notice that I said
calmly, so you can't yell at me for giving my opinion on the truth after this),
emos, goths, and punks aren't trying to be different from each other, they're trying to differ from average society. Many of them are dressing differently so they won't be looked at as average. In reality, it
is them who are the brave ones. They're not afraid to step out and not follow the "correct" style hype. They may wear more black than you do, but who cares?
As a punk, I dress a little differently from many people in my school, but I could care less. I do it because I'm not afraid to express my interests and I'm not afraid to step out a little. I'm incorrectly labeled all the time. Do you think you would like it if you were called emo when you weren't? Well that happens to me all the time. I'm often called "that emo girl" and nothing else. Well newsflash for them, I'm not. They're wrong. So
there's a good chance that you're wrong about that person you labeled the other day. You don't know them on a personal level, so you have no right to judge them, especially not by how they dress.
If you see some guy dressed in drag across the hall, you're automatically going to think that he's weird. That's okay, that's human instinct. But you can't go around talking about him and how he's such a freak. Maybe he's a nice person, you have no idea. We live in a world where everyone judges others by what they look like. Well I say, who gives a damn.
You may not want to take my opinion because I'm included in the range of people I'm defending, that's fine.
I'm only saying this for the people who care, and for the people who are open to a new mindset. If you think I'm a little too outspoken, well that just goes to show that those people that label me emo are even more wrong. Those people that dress differently
are the brave ones.
When was the last time you were brave and talked kindly to someone that others considered emo, goth, or punk? When was the last time that you were brave and dressed differently? When was the last time that you stood up for someone who needed it? If you think I sound like a counselor, well I don't care. Actually, I hate all the speeches our school is given about being kind to others. I think they're bullshit because, well, who's really going to listen to them? I'm sure there will be a good handful of people that will think that for what I'm saying now. Well then, go back to paragraph four.
