Live theatre is one of the best ways of storytelling. More intimate than movies, and incorporates everything you love, poetry, light, music, action, etc.
I think theatre is beautiful.

My most memorable shows were
"The Full Monty" at the Brisbane Arts Theatre. The was a guy in it named Daniel, who I have the hugest crush on. He was seriously gorgeous. Vioce like honey, too. So on closing night I made him a card. Then I thought it would look creepy if I only gave him a card so I made one for everyone else too.

"The Narcisssist" at The Roundhouse Theatre in Kelvin Grove. Brilliant comedy. The great thing about it is, it had so many Australian pop-culture references, but at the same time, you didn't need to know any of them for it to be funny. It's about a gay politician narcissistic asshole. Which of course sounds like shit, but it was fantastic. It was such a hit that they had to extend the theatre season because they sold out every night.

"Circa: The Space Between" at the Roundhouse Theatre. I went and saw this last night, which is why I bring this up. It was the most incredible and beautiful thing I have ever seen. A few people (including me) cried during it, not because it was sad, but because it was so stunning.
I STRONGLY recommend you go see this, Loving. Or anyone in or around Brisbane. It's magical.
Right now I'm starting to save up money to go again. There's three characters, and the show goes for an hour without intermission, there is never a word spoken.
It has a fantastic soundtrack, beautiful and interesting lighting, and absolutely incredible performers.
Some of the things they do with their bodies is amazing. And the guys in it are dayum fine.

I'm half pissed because the season only runs till the 8th of April, but at the same time, I really couldn't ask for a longer one, since they are pushing their bodies to the absolute limits every night, and there aren't even good audiences.

So my question is, what theatre have you been to, missed out on, heard of, loved, hated?
Or maybe you've never been and you should.

I don't think I've ever been, however, I really wanted to see "Cats" in a London Theatre when I was younger, but never got the chance
boobookittyf*ck
Cats will probably run for the next 300 years, don't worry if you haven't seen it yet.
It actually ran earlier this year in my city. So I can assure you you'll have another chance.
Camisado<3
I've never seen one before but I'm going to london this summer and the always have shows there.... I think.
staciixsmosh
Yer they usually do

Phantom of the oprea is in town but the tickets are way too expensive. I want to go but my friends are not interested in such musical shows.
BrettS

I went to see Perfect Skin at the roundhouse theatre last year, based on a Nick Earls novel and it was quite funny (His gay friend was the funniest actor, and we saw up his pants)... We used to have several theatre groups a year come out to our school, and one I remember well (because it was hilarious) was called idotlovedotyou, it was about the confusion of modern technology...
I also went to the Lucia Di Lammermoor opera last year, and Romeo and Juliet opera...

I saw Perfect Skin!
I loved the actor you're talking about but I HATED the show.
Which is why I didn't count it.

But the actor from what I remember was hilarious, and really quite attractive.
The only reason I didn't walk out of the damn show.

And because we had to analyse it for school.

Wouldn't it be crazy if we had gone on the same day and just not known eachother?
Crazy shit like that always happens to me.

Um I forget his name (so long ago)... But They have little review cards on a table in the foyer and I think I wrote something like 'Whole show sucked except for 'insert his name'' or some such... The main actor really annoyed me, he had a way of delivering his lines that made him seem so arrogant...

Man, I have to get you a copy of my review. I said the exact same thing. He was ridiculous. Everything was a goddamn announcement!
Like the smallest insignificant line was a declaration. He sounded like such a fuck toss.
Mezelf_doc
i love theater! especially musicals smile.gif
SaveARockBand
Oh, and I also saw We Will Rock You (main character = HOT!, and target pronounced tar-jhay lmao), the musical based on Queen, in 2004, and Dirty Dancing the musical (was it 2005 or 2006?)... Much fun
boobookittyf*ck
My class went to see We Will Rock You without me.

And my drama teacher was in the production of cats that I mentioned earlier.
Swing that Smosh
Never since I went to see Pete Pan at Sunderland.

Never since I went to see Pete Pan at Sunderland.

Why? Was it incredibly crap, or did you just grow out of theatre, so to speak.
[[.Ami.Rose.]]
I've Seen Cats and Misaigon(sp.) with the school. Cats wasn't bad, but the other was so amazing. I was sobbing by the end of it, and I rarely ever cry at stuff like that.

We watched the Lion King for my sisters birthday in London, which was awesome, and Footloose for my birthday last year. That has to be my favourite so far, the music was awesome (I was almost front row by the speakers), the actors were also amazing singers and dancers, and the lead actor was gorgeous.

I think I've seen 1 or 2 others, but they can't have been too good because I don't remember them.

I wanted to see the Edward Scissorhands live theatre, but it was only on in America as far as im aware

Yes, I was looking at pictures of it, looked really impressive. The only down side is, it wouldn't have been played by good old Johnny Depp sad.gif lol
boobookittyf*ck
Nah, but probably still would have been worth the ticket.
I can't see anyone letting something so great be done crappy.

Bet the actor was hot shit.

I'm really quite upset that I missed it now.

You don't live near Toronto do you?

http://theater-tickets.justgreattickets.co...nds-Tickets.geo

There is a different Edward Scissorhands theatre, with different cast members. Not sure if that interests you :S
boobookittyf*ck
Hahaha, I'm in the wrong hemisphere.

And I'm taken by the HOT-as-FUCK actor in Circa. <333 My god he's yummy.
staciixsmosh
lol ok
boobookittyf*ck
Hahaha, my teacher was so funny. She told us about the show, and then she's like
"And there's this ridiculously hot guy in it, but I'm so embarassed! I thought he was so gorgeous and then found out he was your age..!"
And everybody in the class was like "Hahahahahaha"

And then when I saw the show, the second he came on stage I thought "Jeeeesus, I know what she means. Give me a piece of that!"

And upon stalking him, found that he wasn't infact my age, but 19. Depression followed.

No ma'am.
Circa. It's a french circus show, but it's a beautiful love story thing. Wow, way for me to make it sound all crap. It's the furthest from crap you can possibly get. I mean, I was in tears. It was unbelievable.

SaveARockBand, since you're familiar with the Roundhouse and you've been there before and everything, I'm telling you, you CANNOT miss this.
Don't miss it. I'll make you regret it for the rest of your smosh life. smile.gif

ohok then, sounds interesting..

thanks smile.gif

I went to see The Woman In Black at the Cambridge Arts Theatre with my Drama group not too long ago.
It was scary-fucking-as. It's described as "The Most Terrifying Live Theatre Experience In The World", and I'm extremely inclined to agree. There were two actors in it, but my word, terrifying doesn't quite cover it. The atmosphere, the characters, the plot, the lighting, sound and scenery. It all adds up to the scariest thing I've ever seen ever. Seriously, if it comes anywhere near you, and you have a pair of plastic pants handy, go see it.

Probably because it is!
I'd go see it again, but it wouldn't be the same sad.gif

I'm dying to see Circa again.

My old man says we're too poor. Tomorow the phone's getting cut off.
GODDAMN IT.
toreen
i saw the opera madame butterfly last summer and it was so boring cuz the main character waited many days for her husband and she just stood onstage for 10 mins, and in the end she committed suicide when her husband got with another woman.
Loving♥
i saw the musical 'Little Shop of Horror's' at the sydney street theatre.

I LOVED IT!

the music is STILL in my head and the accents were GREAT, as were the actors...but the story was kinda...iffy...know what i mean?

and i saw 'William Shakespear (by chicks)', also at the sydney street theatre.

it was HILARIOUS!!

i've never laughed so much in all my life! the acting was GREAT, the storyline was better and the light and music was awesome! that was the best performance i've ever seen!
Eidolon
I've seen lots of shows, most at NSMT or reigonal high schools, but still awesome nonetheless. I first got hooked on musical and live theatre when I was five years old. I'm also big on Shakespeare.

The big Broadway tour shows I've seen are Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Phantom of the Opera. And I'm a certified "Phantom phan."

I was in Joseph at my last school.
I was Benjamin. What a sexy bastard.

Oh, and I found that review [savearockband], I'll post it when I get home tonight.
GOING TO SEE HAMLET AT QPAC!!
Doiii.
indecline
I've actually seen "Cats". Meh, not really my thing I guess.
nba185
I have never been to one for a very very very long time. sad.gif
boobookittyf*ck
Got back from Hamlet a little bit ago.
FUCKING AWESOME. Funny, great effects, and the lead role was like... perfect.

Seriously, anyone in the area, go see it. You know he's hot.
REALLY HOT. Hotter in person.

GOOO, it was amazing. I actually want to see it again.
Iona
I've seen Fame and The Producers on the west end both of which were great and the Rocky Horror Show which is just plain awesome.

I've seen The History Boys and a production of All My Sons that were also decent, The History Boys especially was really funny.

Last week I went to see The Black Watch. It's deservedly won a host of awards and is in my opinion, the best play that's around at the moment.
IPB Image
It's about the experiences of soldiers from The Black Watch (a well known Scottish regiment) in Iraq. It's really powerful and even though the theme seems a bit cliched they treat it really well. I'd recomend that you see it if you ever get the chance. I'm definately going to see it again if I ever get an opportunity.

We're in rehearsal for another show at my school already.
That makes three in 2 terms.
At my last school we did one every 2 years. The losers.

Antway, here was my review for Perfect Skin.
I won't write out the whole thing cause it's 3 pages long, but here's the jist of it (a few paragraphs).

PERFECT SKIN
The minor characters, and even the main characters, aren't really explored in depth. This may be caused by Janis Balodis' adaptation, a poor director, or the actors themselves not really knowing their characters.
Phillip Cameron-Smith doesn't bring depth or insight into his character. To an audience member it might seem as though he's overacting. He has a commanding voice. He is loud and speaks every word as a declaration, which is tiring to the ears and lacks enough warmth to be realistic. He sounds as if he is bored with monologuing.
Candice Storey is dull as Ash, and only really livens up when it's time to take her shirt off, which she does twice in the play unnecessarily. She's indecisive and fluctuates in and out of character a lot. The two lead characters are unemotional one moment and completely overreact the next, forming inconsistency with charater.

Praise be to minor roles like Oscar (Mark Conoghan (TEH HOTTAY)) and Katie (Caroline Kennison), which cut the dull tension and liven up the play with funny anecdotes. They also seem to have more heart and sympathy than the lead characters.

Blah blah blah drama/technical shit.
Basically, Phillip BAD, Mark good. Oo-rah.
