I always thought this day of silence. If gays, lesbians, and bis think they are being ignored and not heard then speak up, don't have a day of silence. It's always been it hasn't accomplished anything. If you are true advocates of gay/lesbian rights you should trying being silent until there is a change. Having a cute little day where none of you talk every year will do nothing.
And I'm all for gay rights.

the whole point of it is so we can experience their pain or somthing, alot of people who spoke up lost their jobs or faced other kinds of persacution. But i agree with you having everybody staying quiet for a day doesn't seem like the right way of trying to fix the problem

I'm not saying it isn't a nice gesture but silencing yourself to represent how other were silenced only keeps the chain going.
Speak up. Don silence yourself.
You'll probably argue that silence speaks louder than words, but if the people you are trying to prove your point to don't know what you're saying then what's the point.
Like I said, if you want real change, then we should all just take a vow of silence. Have real protests. Have every gay/lesbian in the country go to the nearest major city and stand in the middle of the streets no speaking a word. Maybe then you'll be heard, but going about your normal lives and writing on a piece of paper to communicate won't do much.
I sympathize but I can't say it's the best way to go about it. I still respect all of you who are doing this though.

writing on a piece of paper to communicate is not the point of staying silent, when you take this vow of silence for the day, it means no communication whatsoever, no writing what you want to say on a piece of paper, thats worse than talking on that day
