EDIT- this 20 year old thing is bullshit, i have a 35 year old teacher than can here this and i know a senior who cant. It has nothing to do with your age, just how well your ear(s) can hear higher pitched sound waves.

It's not actually an age thing, it's how many of the tiniest tiny hairs you have left right down in your ear. Usually, as you get older these fall out and they don't grow back. You could have a 16 year old who listens to very loud music through headphones everyday and they may not be able to hear the higher ones, and you could have a 40 year old who has lived somewhere quiet and looked after their ears and they would be able to hear a higher pitch.

P.S. In my physics lesson the teacher put this on to see how high we could hear and most of us could hear 20khz.

It has a lot to do with how you treat your ears. Our generation is full of iPod lovers who blast theirs eardrums with loud music daily so our ears are going pretty fast. If you take care of your ears you will still be able to hear the high pitched on when you are eighty, though it is unlikely.

I can't hear the highest pitched sound on that site but I can hear the next one fine.
