yes, we all know how annoying and irritating braces can be. I currently wear braces and I thought it would be cool to hear other people's stories on how they hated (or loved) braces, how long they wore them for, and so on!

I don't have braces, I think my teeth are fine without them.

Those things were annoying as HELL.
I had them for 2 years. Just got them off last year.

I broke them like, 20 times. I ate gum anyway. I ate hard foods.
My orthodontist hated me, ahaha.

I used to have braces but I got them taken off about 2 years ago.

I got braces in 3rd grade and then got them off in 7th grade. I've had a retainer since 7th grade and I still have to wear it 24/7. It's almost been 4 years.

i HATED the spacers... but now that i have the actuall braces on i LUV them, and all the colors they can be lol

I have braces, i hate the shit out of them. My lips are so cut up by them, man I cant wait to get them off.

never had braces, my bottom teeth are a little crowded though so my parents took me to an orthodontist and he started talking about how it was going to get worse and said i needed braces. He also said i couldn't just get them for the bottom i had to get top and bottom. Which was bullshit because i knew a kid who only had braces on his bottom teeth. Fuck him, my teeth are fine four years later and nobody notices the slight crowding of my bottom teeth

I have braces, have had them for 19 months now... I get them off in about a month and a half, yeyah!... My teeth were crowded so I had to get four teeth pulled out, which was okay I guess, but the needles hurt like a bitch! Seriously!... I broke off one of the brackets after 3 days haha, but haven't broken anything else since. Occasionally my lip or cheek will get stuck to them haha, but they aren't that bad really, but I'll be so happy to get them off. My friend said your teeth feel slimy when you get them off.

I had them in the winter of grade 10. Took them out in the spring of grade 11. Was given a retainer for full time wear. But I didn't do that. So my teeth shifted, and they had to put the braces back in for the winter of grade 12. And I just got them off last month. Huzzaaah.

they were probly the most annoying thing i ever delt with and i had them for 2 1/2 years but my teeth are super straight now so i guss it was worth it

i didnt follow any of the "rules" and my teeth turned out perfect...they just started out horribly wrong...i had teeth literally directly under my nose.

I went to the orthadontist one time and I didn't wear my rubber bands at all. The orthadontist guy asked me if I wore them and I said yes. Then he tells me of how perfectly I'm wearing my rubber bands and my teeth look good..

Ahh yeah, I remember having braces. They weren't so bad, actually.

Except, my dentist gave me invisalign to wear afterwards as my sort of retainer which I haven't been wearing since about 6 or so months now. My dad mentioned something during dinner tonight about how my teeth seem to be becoming crooked again, so I just put them back on tonight & oh my gosh, it's real painful

I guess my teeth have moved apart a bit since I last worn them, so I sort of forced them back in with wearing them again tonight, ahhhh!

shut up. most people are really big babies about it. it doesnt even hurt that bad at all. when you get them tightened all you had to do was put pressure on your teeth.

i had mine for about a year and it was worth it at first, but i didn't wear my retainer, being the rebel that i am, and my teeth got a little fucked up. i have to wear this gay thing for a couple of more months to correct some problems.

i got them for a two years. only one year to go.
when you first get them they are a pain the ass.
after a while you get used to them till you first get them tightened.

I think braces on boys are really attractive, ewe Im cool/weird

well, my story?? ahh funn funn.. not really... well, last year around november or december, i dont remember which, but my mom told me that i had to get braces. i was ticked.. i liked my teeth the way they were, they didnt need to be moved at all. then in january, my mom said i had to get oral surgery, so i was really mad then, my oral surgen was an effen jerk off.. grrr.. but i had to get all my wisdom teeth taken out plus two baby teeth taken out.. (they were impacted in my gums. they are my eye teeth) but anyway, my face was swolen for about a week, but about three days after i had oral surgery, i had to get my braces on, which was no picnic because i couldnt open my mouth at all and they have to put that annoying plastic thing in your mouth to hold it open at all times.... but that hurt like hell. but then they tightened them a week after.. it hurt like hell too.. but now ive had them on for 4 months and they have already made a difference in my smile, they are in fact very straight. in just 4 months. i actually love my braces now. I keep on telling my orthodontist that i want to put purple colored bands on, when i get my bottom braces, (next month, july) i want purple because thats my favorite color. hehe. but he keeps on telling me that i cant get colors untill i have thicker wires... so i have to wait for about 4 more months before i can even put colors in... but i have to wear them for 2 years.. maybe less. (if im lucky) but my ortho. said that his goal is to get them off by my 17th birthday, and next month ill be 16, so no not 2 years... about a year and a half... but anyway, thats my whole story.. but i mean they arent as bad as i thought they were gonna be. i dont use wax cause they dont cut me very much, i chew gum all the time and i eat hard foods and i havent broken one bracket. so, they are okay to me.. i mean i would rather not have them at all, but i mean they're ok for now since i HAVE to have them... but people say i look better cause my teeth are straighter now... so yea.. but i guess ill be happy when they are taken off and i have a straight smile instead of a crooked one.. :/

I'm getting them in July. I have to get an expander, which is like this little box that is on the roof of my mouth that expands my teeth by being squeezed on the back teeth. I have to get a key to tighten it and crap.

eh i have braces for like a year now...and i get them off in the next two months...they are annoying..but i cant imagine wat it will be like without them now

yeah its a trippy feeling, they feel all smooth and slimy at first, and its really awkward when you smile for the first few days

I really should get braces. My front two teeth are gappy and twisted (Which is why you'd never see me properly smile, especially not in pictures) but the orthodontist said when I was 12 they'd straighten. Still waiting, Doc.

I got them.. they have been pissing me off ever since i got them!

I now have these rubber bands on them to pull my bottom jaw back and the fount forward or something. I got them till may 8th 2008.

I had a splint which is basically a slippery, plastic mold of your teeth that you wear like a mouth guard, but it pushes your jaw back. I had that from December till late February. I was only allowed to take it off to clean. I had to eat, sleep and do everything else with it in.

Yeah, I had the same thing. 'Oh yeah, they'll sort themselves out, don't worry' Now every time I bite into something it looks like a kid with a chainsaw hacked it up
