our skool web suks, everythings blocked and then if u find sumin cool, our admin (in 19 year old with no life) sends u a message and says 'Thanks for the site, i'll block that now', he is sat there all day blockin stuff, sad guy!!!!!!!
I help him do our skool site (http://www.weobleyhigh.co.uk) so I have like a few admin powers, well I was on unblockyoutube.com and then he locked my user account, wen he finally unlocked it, I went on another proxy sever (http://www.undug.net/proxeeee), and now hes blocked my account totaly. But remember I sed I had those admin powers, well before he blocked me I made myself a new account :D, so if summin like this happens I can still go on the pc's at skool! Clever me!
Hi All,
I occasionally browse the web for references to our school website and came across this thread. Thought it was pretty interesting.
For those who haven’t figured it out yet. I am the "19 year old person with no life" (FYI I’m 21 and living happily in a city apartment with my girlfriend).
Ok, let’s correct some information (Please note, this post is about the posts quoted above NOT about the thread. I realize it's technically off subject, but I think given the rudeness of the post, I’m obliged to reply.
1: If you were doing work in lesson instead of screwing around... I wouldn’t have reason to watch what you’re doing.
2: As a school, we are legally responsible for you. This includes over the internet. Hence why most of the "fun" stuff is blocked, not to mention the fact that you’re supposed to be doing work in lessons.
3: Proxies and such are blocked not only for the reason above, but also for security reasons. Most proxies contain web based viruses. While we do have an advanced anti-virus system... no system is 100% effective. And again, this goes back to number 1.
Ok, regarding my day. Despite what you might like to think, I don’t sit here blocking sites all day. It's a very boring task and I hate doing it when I have to. Most of the day I sit here (yes I do sit at my desk most of the day... it's an IT job!) making improvements to the network, or fixing problems students cause. Most of the management software we use on the network I have written myself, so I’m always adding more functions to that.
That’s the first post done.

You have never helped me with our school site. Our main school site is a PHP/MySQL powered CMS. Hosted internally on our own web hosting servers. The design and layout was done by me and me alone. I did however take some inspiration from our prospectus at the time.
You were never at any time given any admin "powers" of any sort. Even the most trusted students don’t have any kind of administrative permissions. I simply don’t trust any of you.
We log every request that goes out to the internet from any and all machines. Even if you manage to get past the filters. Even if you’re using a proxy. Yes we can’t tell what you’re going on if you’re using a proxy, but all we have to do is know it's a proxy and that’s enough. All students here know we log everything and we can recall it at the touch of a button. Quite why you decided to go on yet another proxy site after being caught the second time I don’t really know.
As for these "admin powers" your claiming about. If you do have access to an administrative account, then I have to congratulate you. As in our current network setup to create a user account you have to do the following:
1) Login as a member of "Domain Admins" and "All Admins" (plus some other groups).
2) Either manage to install the correct administration MSC plug-in, or gain remote access to one of our domain controllers.
3) Once you have either of the above, you then need to create the user in active directory.
4) You then need to add the user to the correct user groups (about 3/4 groups per user depending on the access level)
5) You then have to set the correct settings for the profile path and home directory as we use roaming profiles
6) You then have to create the profile by copying the default profile and place it in the correct place (which is on another server)
7) You then have to create the Home directory.
8) You then have to create all the correct NTFS permissions.
Once you have done all that (and only once you have done it) does our system allow a user to login.
Oh yes, and there are about 3 other administrative passwords you must use (all different) to gain access to those certain steps. Even as an administrative user, you cannot access those without the passwords.
In the event that you have done that (I am currently running a scan of the system to check) then this will be an extremely serious issue. If you have done what you have claimed to have done, then you have actually broken numerous laws, mostly the Computer Misuse Act.
As a warning/advice/information to everyone else. Yes, I know there are some idiot ICT Teachers, we've had a few teach here in the past. And yes there are a few Network Admins who don’t know what they’re doing (The person before me). But in education you don’t get paid much. So you don’t tend to find the best people.
Most of the security features in place at schools are there for your protection. I can understand it's annoying. especially if you know what you’re doing. After all I was like all of you when I was at school. But at the end of the day, the people who run the networks aren’t stupid, if you get caught, because very confidential information is kept on ICT systems, it can be an extremely serious thing. I have known schools around here who have excluded students for even attempting to get admin access. Some even involved the police.
Anyway, I won’t go any further in to this as it's now a school issue.
Oh, and one last thing. If you hadn’t been so insulting to me, perhaps I’d be slightly more forgiving. Even if all this is a lie in an attempt to make it look like you know what you’re doing in ICT.
Ever heard of the BOFH? Google it.
Hmm, just seen the dates on these! Should really check the dates before i reply.
Anyway, advice still goes. Doesn’t matter when you commit the crime. The fact is you committed it.
