Alright, try Richard Pryor and some early George Carlin.

Alright, how about Jerry Seinfeld and Mitch Hedburg? Seinfeld is much more clean, but he is the god of observational comedy.

God yes, there's many varieties of comedy. It all depends on what kinds of things you find the most humorous.

There's black/dark comedy which generally deals with things that can toe the lines of horrific or tragic, but manage to pull out the humor from these situations.

Then you've got "blue comedy" which is known for shock value, usually has a lot of swearing/graphic nature, can be based in racism or sexism (though not necessarily racist or sexist).

Then there's "observational comedy", which is much lighter than the previous two. This is the kinda stuff that points out the foibles of everyday life, like "Did you ever notice..." type stuff.

Then there's physical comedy, like the Three Stooges. Basically just slapstick.

And then there's prop comedy, which I find to be EXTREMELY hacky (for the most part). Sometimes, you can find a decent act, although most times you just find Gallagher smashing watermelons.

The 7 Dirty Words You Can't Say on TV or Radio? You must've been watching something after he died, I take it?

EVERYBODY knows that routine. It's a classic.

Lemme help you find a good comedian. What kind of humor are you into?

I didn't say you had to word-for-word recite his jokes. Just tell me what he said that made you think to yourself, "I like this comedian". Just give me a vague outline of one of his jokes.

What's wrong? Can't name a routine?
