10 Very Awkward Summer Dates
Summer love is in the air. The hot weather makes it a great time to go on some really romantic first dates – from strolling hand in hand down the beach boardwalk to snuggling in close on the Ferris Wheel at the county fair. However, it also means you can potentially set yourself up for some really awkward date moments. Here is our list of the top ten most awkward summer first date ideas.
It’s summertime and that means wedding season is in full swing. You might be tempted to take your date as a plus one, but seriously rethink this plan. Do you really want them to see you do the “Funky Chicken” on your first date? Yeah, we didn’t think so.
Do you want fries with that? Times are tough but that doesn’t mean you can’t take your date somewhere a little more original. Save the Big Macs for later and make a picnic for your date instead.
8. The Library
The last thing anyone wants to think about is studying during summer break. Close the books and take your date somewhere outside and where you won’t get ‘shhhed’ every two seconds.
7. Taking a Vegetarian to a Churrasco Restaurant
You might want to ask your date if they eat meat before surprising them with a dinner at a churrasco restaurant. As the waiters continuously bring around meat on a stick to your table, your date’s face might go from a rosy red to a seasick green.
Paintball can be super fun, but it can also really painful. It might not be a good idea to take your date to the paintball field and then hunt them down like prey on your first outing together.
5. Family Reunion
If your first date goes well, then you will probably have a chance to meet your date’s parents later down the line. Meeting Aunt Ethel, Great-Grandpa Bob and the rest of the family right off the bat might leave you face bruised from all that cheek pinching.
4. Animal Auction
Going to the fair is a fun summer activity, but you might want to stay away from the animal auction tent. You don’t want to get too attached to your date’s pet pig and then watch it get sold to the highest bidder to become someone else’s dinner.
Showing your support is always a nice gesture, but if your date asks you to be his plus one at his grandpa’s funeral, you might need to brace yourself for some awkward hugs and tears.
2. Hot Dog Eating Competition
Eating out is a normal first date activity but stuffing your face with a hundred hot dogs is not exactly what we would call romantic, candle-lit fare. Plus, you don’t want to risk puking all over your date after you’re crowned the champion.
1. Nude Beach
It’s awkward enough stripping down to your bathing suit in front of your date let alone showing them your birthday suit! If you see signs for “clothing optional” beaches, steer your date in a different direction ASAP!
