7 Facts About the 'Riverdale' Cast They DON'T Want You to Know

The CW's Archie Comics'-based drama Riverdale is a show that, like Regina George’s hair, is full of secrets. But did you know that the very popular, very good looking, real life cast of Riverdale ALSO have secrets?! Of course you did, because we're all hiding something from someone... Check out the following facts the Riverdale cast members (and their perfect hair, skin, and teeth) DO NOT want you to know about.

Riverdale was Camila Mendes' first acting job out of school

A post shared by Camila Mendes (@camimendes) on

Just after graduating NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, Camila Mendes landed the role of a lifetime as Veronica on Riverdale. At least, that's what she wants you to think. Camila is actually a 340 year old gypsy-man who was hiding out in the body of a college drama student, when producers of Riverdale saw her about to dementor the sh*t out of a fellow classmate. In exchange for the role, the gypsy-man promised to stop sucking out the souls of 18-22 year olds. This is rumored to be the plot-line of Ryan Murphy's next season of American Crime Story, but nothing has been confirmed.

Cole Sprouse originally audition for the role of Archie

That's right, the actor who plays sidekick extrodanire Jughead Jones initially auditioned to be our main character Archie Andrews. He switched characters, though, because Cole told producers he was more drawn to the role of Jughead. And there were two reasons for that: number one, Jughead is an edgier character with black hair (and Cole has secretly wanted a reason to dye his hair dark so he doesn't have to tell people he's "the other Dylan" anymore), and number two, Jughead is the narrator of the show, which means he won't be killed off the show.

Unfortunately, Cole took the whole "if he plays Jughead he can't die" thing literally, and is convinced that he is now immortal IRL, meanwhile KJ Apa, who plays Archie, could drop dead at any moment. Cole does not feel bad for KJ, calling him a "sucka" for not realizing playing Jughead was the way better deal.

Ashleigh Murray was broke before landing her role on Riverdale

A post shared by Ashleigh Murray (@iamamurray) on

Ashleigh said of her situation pre-Riverdale, "I was $4,700 behind in rent. I lived in New York City, so it was a lot of money... And I was just about to take a break from acting for about six months, until I could get myself back on my feet financially, and then hit the ground running. This was my last audition." Ashleigh avoided eviction and landed her role of Josie on the show by telling Riverdale producers that she is happy to wear cat ears on the show because she is a total cat person, which was a bald-faced lie.

Ed Sheeran once serenaded KJ Apa on an episode of a soap opera

In the episode of the soap Shortland Street, Ed was helping KJ's character figure out his life, even going as far as to look right into KJ's eyes and sing him a beautiful song. But while filming the scene, KJ saw the coming of Armageddon in Ed's eyes, and is now convinced he is the Antichrist.

Lili Reinhart and Madelaine Petsch are roomates IRL

Lili and Madelaine — who play Riverdale's Betty and Cheryl, respectively — share a hip apartment together, and if their relationship on the show is any indication, they definitely passive aggressively call each other out on whose turn it is to take out the trash, who ate the last of the peanut M&Ms, and whose perfect hair clogged the shower drain again. Madelaine recently called Lili "her best friend", which means it is definitely Madelaine's turn to take out the trash but she hasn't yet.

Cole Sprouse loves photography

As we previously mentioned, Cole's fear of death is really his driving force in life, and his career. It has also extended to his love of photography, because as we know, when you take a picture of someone on a fancy, non-phone camera, you capture their soul and gain a piece of their life-force. Cole has been stealing life-forces for years, and he's not even above stealing his own girlfriend's.

Cole and Lily are dating in real life

Though neither Cole nor Lily have confirmed their relationship status, it is clear to all who stalk them carefully on social media and the tabloids that these two are an item IRL. While the pair have made it known that they don't want the public knowing their official relationship status, what they REALLY don't want the public to know is that they are into feet stuff. (Mostly drawing cute little faces on each other's toes and pretending they're rival boy bands.Shhhhhhhh.)
