Leo Joins The Crazy Celebrity Exotic Pet Club

It's official, Tmz reported that Leonardo DiCaprio has just joined the Crazy Celebrity Exotic Pet Club. Leo joins a league of celebrities like Elvis Presley, The Kardashians, and Michael Jackson... who have also own/owned exotics, with his purchase of a huge turtle. Yes, a turtle.

"Sources close to the actor tell TMZ, Leo picked up the 10-year-old Sulcata tortoise at the North American Reptile Breeders Conference and Trade Show in Anaheim , CA over the weekend… Leo called a California pet store that specializes in rare reptiles and requested the tortoise one day before he picked it up."

We're told the tortoise ran Leo a cool $400 and that the celeb asked for the biggest tortoise they had -- a 38-pounder -- but according to experts, Sulcatas can grow to weigh 200 pounds." Ok, the turtle is going to outlive Leo, but more importantly… Leo goes to trade shows?

Michael Jackson & His Chimp

The most famous exotic celebrity pet has to be Michael Jackson’s pet and best friend Bubbles the Chimp. A chimpanzee that apparently hated Michael, even though Michael commissioned expensive tasteful artwork featuring himself and Bubbles looking serious.

Paris Hilton & Her Kinkajou

Paris Hilton (of COURSE she was gonna show up in this article) got attacked by her pet Kinkajou, which she named, "Baby Luv." Her crazy pet, a racoonish kinda animal thingie, took a bite out of the impulsive heiress one night after she took it out partying too late.

This baby clearly did not love Paris.

Mike Tyson & His Tigers

You saw Mike Tyson’s tiger in The Hangover? It’s not a joke, it’s the truth. Mike Tyson owns a tiger and he happily spends around $4k a month keeping his giant kitty cat happy, healthy and full.

Elvis Presley & His Kangaroos

According to a USA Today article, "Elvis gave up two kangaroos to a zoo" because they weren't as fun as he thought they were gonna be. Elvis, I know you're dead, but why'd you give the 'roos to the zoo? Why not let them live at Graceland in a mansion?

The Kardashians & Their Chimp

One of the dumbest things the Kardashians have ever done is adopt a monkey. They put pictures of her up on their website and then blogged, "Her name is Suzy, she is three years old, and she is a handful! She steals our BlackBerrys and climbs up my mom's bed. Having a monkey is a lot of work. Suzy always has her diaper on and we are the ones who have to change it!"

Uh... yeah... I'm sure Kim and Khloe are changing diapers. Right.

Vanilla Ice & His Wallaroo (named Bucky Buckaroo)

A wallaro is a cross between a wallaby and a kangaroo. Vanilla Ice loved Bucky until he escaped one day and ran wild in the streets of Saint Lucie, Florida… the Ice got rid of him after that. Probably a good move.

Kristen Stewart & Her Wolves

Twilight star Kristen Stewart has owned wolves for years… or wolf hybrids… some kind of wolfish/dogish creature. She says, "This is my pet; this is Jack. He's our oldest male. I know he looks kind of scary, he's a wolf. He's really sweet, he, like, falls at my feet.

George Clooney & His Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pig

Next to Bubbles the Chimp the second most famous exotic celebrity pet is probably Max, George Clooney's beloved Vietnamese pot-bellied pig. George supposedly loved Max so much that he called him "Max the star." That's right George, Max definitely looked like a star. (Max died in 2006, RIP Max!)

Sulcata Tortoises are the third largest species of tortoise in the world, just after the Aldabra Giant Tortoise and the Galapagos Tortoise. So hopefully Leo is prepared for a big pet.
