Miley Cyrus 'Wrecking Ball' Parodied By... Hulk Hogan?
Last summer, I had a 108° degree fever, and I saw some crazy stuff — helicopters with mouths, smiling at me; trees growing not leaves but orbs of sand; and giraffes in business suits demanding I sell them "the property", whatever that means.
It was hard to keep my grasp on reality then, but I'll tell you — it was nothing compared to today, when I woke up to discover Hulk Hogan has an online web hosting company and he's advertising it by wearing a thong and parodying Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" video.
At least the giraffes were wearing business suits, grounding them SOMEWHERE in reality.
If this were just a straight up Miley Cyrus parody, I could start to wrap my brain around it. Miley Cyrus is hot right now, everyone is trying to jump on the Miley Cyrus bandwagon. But this video for Hostamania goes so far beyond the realm of cynical pop culture reference. It opens with a Hulk Hogan impersonator coloring a Hulk Hogan coloring book before an upside down man eats his crayons. Why would that happen?! Does the upside down man represent other hosting companies? Why are they upside down? Are their business practices upside down? This is never ever made clear. We could be seeing the emergence of Hulk Hogan as the greatest, most opaque modern artist of our time.
I'm gonna just say this is "beautiful and revolutionary" so I don't get made fun of by my art critic friends.
Of course, for those of us who've followed Hulk Hogan's career, the notion that he could be a genius working in the area of the absurd will come as no surprise. In 1996, the Hulkster released a song called "I Wanna Be A Hulkamaniac" that featured the lyrics "I wanna be a Hulkamaniac/ have fun with my family and friends". And that wasn't even the most insane song on the album! That distinction belongs to "Beach Patrol":
Who else but Hulk Hogan can oscillate between straight-up threatening to murder a man and saying "whoop there it is?"
On a basic level, the weirdest part of this video is that Hulk Hogan is a part of an internet hosting company. Hostamania is an internet hosting company that brags about its ability to "leg-drop the competition." But listen, I don't want Hulk Hogan anywhere near my hosting. There is no one I would trust less with my technology than a professional wrestler.
"I HOPE YOU MADE A BACKUP."

Hulk Hogan is probably jealous, but as "Rowdy" Roddy Piper — the most talented wrestler to never win the World Title — will tell you, Hulk Hogan has always been jealous.
