Nintendo Confirms: Toad's Head Is NOT a Hat, Just Like Your Neck Is Not a Scarf
Super Mario Odyssey is the best Nintendo game in years (well, at least months), but it opened a giant can of worms vis a vis our boy Captain Toad. Is the little mushroom man who travels the world to find (and give away for free?) Power Moons wearing a hat, or does he for real have a giant-ass mushroom for a head?
But yesterday, the question was officially answered. Speaking yesterday in a Twitter Q+A, Super Mario Odyssey producer Yoshiaki Koizumi confirmed that no, Toad is not wearing a hat. That's his head.
Koizumi said, "So that, as it turns out, is actually Toad's head. I'm going to have to leave it to all of you to figure out exactly how that works out. Maybe there's something inside..." And it's like, what are you talking about, Yoshiaki Koizumi? Of course there's something inside: A BRAIN. Toad is smart, and fierce, and independent, and a captain sometimes. You go, Toad! Follow your giant-headed bliss!
