The REAL Reason Your Parents Are On Facebook
If you've been wondering why your parents are making your life miserable on Facebook, your wait is over. An online poll confirms what most people considered to be pretty obvious...they're spying on their kids!

The poll is actually kind of hilarious. My favorite is the parents who would like to spy but don't know how. How do you even cop to something so lame? This isn't the CIA! You're not infiltrating a foreign dictatorship here, you're seeing if your daughter was tagged in a photo while passed out drunk, or if your son likes a page called 'Smoking marijuana cause your friends just aren't that funny.' Here's a handy dandy graph showing the results:

Some more poll insight: Fifteen percent of parents polled said they set up their Facebook accounts purely to spy on their children. 100% said they intended to use it to embarrass their children at every given opportunity.
Okay, not really, but I feel certain it's true...am I right Kathryn?

36-percent blamed their snooping on the fact that they are simply over-protective, 14 percent honestly admitted they were just being nosy.100 percent were shocked by what they discovered! SHOCKED, I tell you! Not really, but I'm thinking this woman is upset to see that her daughter has been poked over 45 times. It's okay, lady...it's just virtual poking. FOR NOW...BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I have to say I'm not really sure if spying on your children will build a trusting parent/child relationship, but I understand spying if they are concerned something is wrong. Like Lia, below, displaying her lack of knowledge on the subject of bong etiquette! I would be so ashamed to find out my child was an ill-mannered stoner!

The most disturbing thing that the poll revealed is that 24-percent of parents admitted that Facebook was the only place they could find out what's going on in their children's lives, while 6-percent found that Facebook allowed them to avoid “awkward conversations” with their kids. I'm pretty sure Facebook leads to more awkward conversations than it avoids.

Hopefully in a few years your parents will be as clueless as the old people using technology in stock photos. Then you can let your Facebook freak flag fly free!

What say you? Are you friends with your parents on Facebook? What's the most embarrassing thing your mom or dad has done to you on Facebook? I'm dying to know! Tell us all about it in the comments!

Once, my father sent messages to two of my friends that he doesn't know. In the messages for some strange reason he claimed that they were harassing me, and that he was "on to them". They weren't. Later in the messages he went on the guess that they were secretly pedophiles. One of them was a few months younger than me, the other was a few years younger than me. When my friends told me about the messages, I told them to flag him for unwanted contact and to block him. I did the same. Been

My mom actually blocked me on fb. She refuses to let me be her friend because she doesn't want me to see her personal life. I didn't want to be her friend at first but now i want to see what she's hiding. She says she isn't hiding anything but when I ask her why she doesn't add me she says it's just because. o___o Does anyone else see irony?? WHAT ARE YOU HIDING, MOTHER!?!?!

I have my ex's mom on Facebook. After we broke up I would post some nasty comments about him, seeing as he cheated on me with a less then desirable other woman, She would always comment on them telling me how much she loved me and how she was so glad we were together. She had no idea we were over, I felt it wasn't my place to tell her.... Akward :l To this day she still comments on my posts. Other then that my mom doesn't do anything weird ha

I am friends with both of my parents. My father never uses his account though.. But my mom is always checking mine out! Every time I look at her computer screen and she is on Facebook, she is ALWAYS checking my wall or the newest fotos of me! She doesn't do anything else - like post a comment or make her own status updates - so it isn't embarrassing in public - Only when I see her looking at me from across the living room. But if she doesn't want to know it then she shouldn't go there to read it

Thankfully my mom doesn't care about my life to much. But she always comments on ALL of my posts, so I just delete her comments usually, and hopefully, before anyone sees them. If she did start bothering me about my posts I'd delete and block her. If she got all sensitive I'd tell her "no."

[continuity...] Every time he would post something "inappropriate", she would lecture him. Sometimes she'd lecture him at school.
When he unfriended her, she wanted to have a serious conversation about the reason why he didn't want to be friends with her on facebook.
The rest of the class blocked her after that...

I don't even become friends with grown-ups in general!
My friends and I are lunatics! We say things that are stupid, rude, we curse and other people do not have to see that.
My mom has always been very cool about the things that I do, regardless of how stupid they are. But that's 'cause we have a deal - I don't get caught and she doesn't meddle.
But I wouldn't have her as a friend on facebook!
I had this one friend who became friends with his teacher. Every time he would post somethi

My friend's privacy settings block all their statuses from their relatives unless they specify not to. Every once in a while they post a child-friendly status "open to all" just to keep them from finding out. It may sound like overkill, but if you knew their parents...
