Teens Who Use Facebook More Likely To Use Drugs, Drink???

So another study about teens and social networking has come out. This time the study is blaming things like Facebook for increasing the likelihood of drug and alcohol abuse amongst its teen users. Joseph A. Califano, Jr. who head up the study writes, "The findings in this year's survey should strike Facebook fear into the hearts of parents of young children." Uh, take it easy dude. Before you cause overprotective parents to act even more overprotectively.

The study suggests that the Facebook powers-that-be should use their technological mojo to help curb the sharing of images that depict people partying and drinking and deny use of the site to teens that post such images. Why? Because their findings showed that teens who had seen such images were twice as likely to have friends who drank or used drugs. Um...duh?

This is so dumb. I mean, pictures of drunk people on Facebook don't make me say 'I wanna wake up with a mouth full of tampons, too!' You?

I'm pretty sure that actually having friends who drink and do drugs would be the more likely cause of teens drinking and doing drugs, rather than just seeing pics of it on Facebook. I mean, I'm no scientist but isn't this study basically telling us that peer pressure exists? Which we kind of already knew, but I guess if you add Facebook to the mix it gets all new and exciting again.

If parents are on their kid's a**es and know what's going on in their lives, it's harder for kids to get completely out of control. So besides keeping up on their kids, parents need to send that friend request! Nothing says 'Party's over!" faster than when your parents join Facebook.

And if you really wanna stop your kids from underage drinking, there's always this sure-fire scientific method. Show them the picture below. DONE!

What do you guys think? Are you getting sick of all the studies blaming everything you love as the cause of all bad behaviors? Tell me what you think @desijedeikin or in the comments below!

ok im gonna share this with Facebook

There was no Facebook in the 60's, and we all know that they never did drugs back then (sarcasm intended)

Kids won't do drugs just because of facebook. Thats stupid. Kids do drugs because they want to know what its like and they get hooked or from peer presure or just plain bad parenting you shouldn't blame facebook just to take the blame away from bad parenting and all the other reasons

If kids aren't doing drugs because of Facebook, then they are doing drugs because of some other reason, you can't put Facebook in the blame.

All these problems that these people like to blame on Facebook, Video Games, etc. have existed way before Facebook, Video Games, etc.

Well... i hate facebook xD

So parents are still looking for a scape goat to blame their bad parenting on. No surprise. Im sure the "scientist" who did this study has an out of control 16 year old.

i dont have facebook so, i mean uhh its kinda stupid, but it could be true?
