When Nerds Attack: Violence Erupts At Comic-Con!

This past weekend San Diego hosted the 41st Comic-Con International convention. The event is four-day comic book, sci-fi and fantasy extravaganza that attracts over 100,000 people to it every year.

However, this year’s festivities were marred by an act of violence so heinous that it’s hard to even to write about.

During Saturday’s panel discussion for the forthcoming Resident Evil: Afterlife film a man was attacked and nearly killed.

Can you guess who committed the act and what weapon they used?

1. Did This Angel Lady…

...chop someone’s head off with an over-sized cleaver for telling her those wings made her look fat?

2. Did These Stormtrooper Dance Crew…

...blast someone for making fun of their break dance moves?

3. Did This Electro Dude…

...zap someone with a lightning bolt for hitting on his Jackie O. dressed girlfriend?

4. Did This Evil Sock Monkey…

...give someone a third-degree rug burn for cutting in line for nachos?

5. Did This Steam Punker…

...pass gas in an elevator and send a group of Red Hat Ladies into cardiac arrest?

6. Did These Old Timey Prostitutes…

...cough tuberculosis all over a traveling salesman sending him to an early grave?

7. Did This Winsome Mermaid…

...give a handsome prince salmonella poisoning?

8. Did This Demonic Flute lady…

...drive someone insane playing Stairway To Heaven backwards on the pan pipes?

9. Did Waldo…

...completely lose it and beat someone unconscious with his cane for spotting him in a crowd?

10. Did Whatever This Guy Is Supposed To Be…

...knock somebody out for stealing his parking space for his pink Miata?

Sadly, none of these is the correct answer.

What actually happened was some random nerd in a limited edition Comic-Con Harry Potter t-shirt stabbed another random nerd (also wearing a limited edition Comic-Con Harry Potter t-shirt) in the eye/cheek with a pen over an argument about sitting to close to one another during a panel discussion. The stabber was arrested, and then the guy he stabbed was taken to the hospital.

I guess the pen IS mightier than the sword... or the lightsaber for that matter.
